This pours a dark amber color with a foamy, beige head. Some grains in the aroma but mostly yeast. The texture is full of carbonation and the taste is surprisingly decent. One downside is the flavor is not as bold or complex as other Belgian Strong Ales. Even with 9% it sure doesn't taste like it. Finishes with a bit of a banana spice after taste.

Lupus Wolf 9 served in a small snifter from a large bottle. Probably colder than ideal.

Clear brown amber body. Proper head but only average lacing.

Rich dark fruity taste. Mildly spicy. Notable for level of toasted and bready malts.
Great balance. Excellent.

Poured into a Delirium Tremens snifter, Wolf 8 has an extremely cloudy body that’s a nice burnt copper color and is topped off with a thick off white head. The head starts off with small firm bubbles that gradually get bigger and fluffier as you near the top of the glass. Very cloud like and almost dreamy, this looks like a very good beer and its got some really good lacing too! Very sweet aromas come through, some figs; apple, mild pumpkin, and faint lemons zest along with mild wheat smells make this beer even more irresistible. As it warms up some dark fruit aromas get stronger: plums, raisins, and currants. Spice is almost the first thing you taste when it hits your tongue, and the spices in this beer dominate the flavor. Very mild hops in the aftertaste…overall the taste is really good and complex, even though the spices are strong ( I can’t even begin to distinguish what fruits I’m tasting). The mouth feel is in the medium-to-full range and there’s plenty of carbonation. Overall this is a great beer to try!

Poured into a Gavroche tulip. Pours a medium to dark orange amber with a fine two finger ivory head that was constantly refreshed by active carbonation. Nice aroma of caramel malt, fresh dark stone fruit, brown sugar, floral. Flavor is semi-dry caramel and bready malt, Belgian yeast, brown sugar, fresh and dried dark stone fruit; finishes with clove and mild fruit flavors. Medium bodied with nice peppery carbonation. A nice, semi-dry Belgian ale, seems more like a strong dark to me, both in color and flavor, but covers the Belgian strong ale profile well. Flavor is a bit subdued, but has nice dry clove bitterness in the finish.

A: When held up to a bright light, the beer is clear but very dark amber in color and has a moderate amount of carbonation. From afar, the beer appears dark reddish brown in color—almost resembling a Belgian Strong Dark Ale. It poured with a two finger high off white head that died down but has very good retention properties and consistently left a half finger high head covering the surface and lots of lacing down the sides of the glass.
S: Light to moderate aromas of Belgian yeast and underlying candi sugar are present in the nose. Bananas also become perceptible as the beer warms up.
T: Like the smell, the taste has lots of flavors of Belgian yeast but there are also notes of pale malts and hints of apricots. Little if any alcohol is perceptible.
M: It feels medium-bodied on the palate and has a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This beer isn't that difficult to drink because it hides its alcohol very well but the taste seems like it should have more complexity for a beer with a 9.0% abv.

330 ml bottle, at home, poured into a tulip glass. ABV 9%
Wow, I didn't expect such a colour! Deep amber, with a big soapy head, at least three fingers tall. Off white in colour, with very good retention, left a good lacing behind.
Nice aroma too, with mostly dark fruits, sugars, light alcohol.
Taste is sweet, with lots of spices, I could swear I taste some red paprika powder. Very interesting.
Full body and very carbonated.
Overall a very interesting beer, I thought I had bought a strong belgian ale but it was so different from what I had before on the style. Very impressed by the colour, since I like dark beers and the spicy taste, although is strange at first, it manages to make it pleasant and very drinkable.
