The Echo Tap offers its patrons a lot of unique experiences:
1. Hungry? Get the Echo Burger, a brat and burger in one loaded with cheese and fried onions. Definitely one of the better burgers in town.
2. Looking to do some first hand research for your sociology course? Check. Sschizophrenic bums, drug dealers, and thugs on break from robbing folks at the bus station are par for the course at the Echo. I love it.
3. Want to get really wasted? It can easily happen here. Drinks are stiff and the specials are great.
Beer selection includes about 18 taps - 6 Macro, 7 craft (usually Capital, New Glarus, Sprecher, Bell's, Summit, Berghoff, and Lake Louie), and 5 imports - Guinness, a German Lager, Bass, New Castle, and a Hefe. Bottles are mostly macro.
Service is solid and experienced but not expert in craft beer. Atmosphere is pretty typical Wisconsin sports bar.
The Echo has never really been one of my hangouts but many of my friends live and die by it. It's a Madison institution going on 70 years and worthy of a visit if you find yourself in the West Mifflin area.

This place is absolutely fantastic. The bartenders and servers here are really quite friendly. They have a wonderful menu with surprisingly good pizza and delicious burgers. Also surprising are the large vegetarian selections available, including a tofu-walnut burger! There are lots of nice HD tv's hanging around but not overly-conspicuous here, and when there is a big game on, they play the audio through the main speaker system, so this is a really great place to watch the game. The beer selection is small but they have done a great job of balancing cheap and popular with nice craft beers.

First time here. Hoping for a quiet night and figure a lopsided Thursday NFL game should be just the ticket. When I get here, the hapless Jaguars seem happy to cooperate with my plan, having let the Falcons run up 41 points before even the 4th quarter.
However, one thing is decidedly not cooperating: it's Team Trivia night, and the place is packed to the gills. The Quiz Master is a dark haired woman at table with a mixing board and mic, standing roo.m only all around her in the narrow room of maybe seven round bar-height tables. I'm lucky and grab the last open spot at the bar.
More on this review later, but need to point out immediatly: sweet potato fries!!
Also, the Echo burger: its a sliced bratwurst sandwiched between beef patties, grilled onions and a nice toasted roll. SMITF: its as good as it sounds.
OK, I've wiped the pork-beef grease from my hands and re-hinged my lower jaw. Man, was that ever good. So good I hardly noticed the quiz master on the mega-monitor.
Her voice at those decibels would normally have me seeking the exit, now that the project of tucking in my burger had been completed. But I'm actually intrigued by the Quiz Master's questions. What brings people out in such droves is immediately apparent, at least with this specimen of Team Trivia. The QM's questiions are a procative combo of recent current events yet squint-worthy arcana, just opaque enough to be respectable for college-town drunks. EmThe harder questions came with a clue tacked on in the form of

The Echo has that old sports pub atmosphere featuring old football helmets on the tappers and a dimly lit bar. More than enough TV's to satisfy the sports fan on game day and an upper level for the dart and pool player.
The burgers are delicious and juicy just the way a bar burger should be. They also have a special on Thursday with tacos that are very good.
Not a great selection, but good enough to keep you there awhile and yes the prices are excellent. The basics with New Glarus and I believe an Ale Asylum.
There are only about 6 parking spaces so be prepared to park somewhere on the street.
For me this is very important and the Echo does a great job with sports memorabilia gracing the walls and pictures of long time patrons. Definitely a place where you can hang out for 3 hours or so and enjoy a game or just come in for a quick lunch whatever you're pleasure.
