Brewed with the finest two-row malt and a generous helping of hops. This is a full bodied, reddish amber ale that will be enjoyed by those who prefer European-style beers with substantial flavor.

An amber in color with great carbonisation, so much I thought the glass would pop up under the bubbles. It looked like a soda beer. Reddish, not much head.
Smells of malt and caramel were very present, very very present.
the taste was quite of hops and very bitter, alot of bitterness.
Nothing to throw myself on the wall!

Beautiful caramel amber color. Absolutely clear. Good starting head but it settles to rim bubbles leaving intermittent thin streaks.
Mostly caramel aroma with a strong metallic smell. No notable hop.
Fairly pedestrian flavor. The toasted malt wins out. Less metal flavor than smell (good) but the hop is nearly nonexistent (bad). Short and blasé finish. Moderate body with a light touch on the carbonation. Overall, okay.

Beer at the hotel bar Port Au Choix NL
Mostly clear deep golden almost amber in color with a bubbly off white head that persists. Rich bready malt with a hint of caramel and some earthy light pine hops to counter. This brewery reminds me so much of the 603 Brewery in NH. They make clean beer but its so gateway and mediocre that its hard to enjoy them.

1892 is named to commemorate the year of a big fire in the brewery's town of St. John’s, Newfoundland; appropriately enough it is ablaze in fire-y amber highlights. The beer shows good clarity but also a bit of chill haze, numerous springs of bubbles but no real head. It looks good but not great.
The aroma has a distinct floral/fruity quality, the source of which I can't quite put my finger on. It could be a rash of English hops, but I suspect it's the esters produced by fermentation (the buttery diacetyl notes support this speculative hunch). It's not at all unpleasant though I wonder whether it's intentional or not.
The beer is surprisingly energized on the palate, though it doesn't really offer a wealth of flavour. That slightly odd floral/fruity/buttery aroma replays but with the addition of barley. It's really difficult to attribute any tangible, solid taste; it is simply grainy in a vague sense and... not much else.
The mouthfeel has an acceptable, semi-satiating amount of malt, just enough to lend a light crunch. Same goes for bitterness, which has no real character but does its job and undermines the sweetness. The balance is good; the finish is crisp, brief and decisive, making it rather refreshing.
Quidi Vidi has very boring labels and the beers inside the bottle are no more interesting. 1892 is an appropriate flagship brand for a brewery complacent being predictable and, frankly, mediocre. Still, if you find yourself on the Rock I'd recommend any Quidi Vidi offering over rivaling Black Horse or India Ale.
