22oz bottle split between a pair of large snifters.

Pours slightly hazy, golden, with a small white head that fades fast and leaves little lacing. Lots of fine carbonation, some sediment. Smell is slightly fruity, yeasty, slightly lemon sour.

Taste is super sour. Lemon and tropical fruit.

Mouthfeel is creamy and rich. Overall, quite good.

Very Hazy amber with a bit of odd whitish sediment floating about. Decent off-white head
Good smell mixes a pronounced passion fruit component with baked bread.
The flavor is very tart and fruity ... Yum.
Refreshing and exceptionally tart and fruity
Light body, but not at all watery, with appropriate medium carbonation.
Near puckering level of tartness.

O: poor looking but excellent nonetheless!

650 mL bottle poured into a snifter.

Appearance - Hazy orange body with a nice white head. Thick collar and great retention.

Smell - Lots of passionfruit. Wheat. More passionfruit.

Taste - Bright passionfruit. Lots of wheat. Kinda tart, but not as sour as the aroma implied. Simple beer, but tasty.

Mouthfeel - Light body. Well carbonated.

Overall - Nice berliner. The passionfruit aroma belied a much more intense beer that never materialized.

A: yellow. Hazy. Lots of carbonation. Small white head. More bubbles than foam.

S: not much. The white of Watemelon rind.

T: passion fruit up front. Sour. A cross between pineapple and mango.

M: high carbonation. Light body. Dry. Sour.

O: great intro to sours for the newbies. This beer is not over the top on the sourness. It is definitely tasty and refreshing.
The sourness of the passion fruit melds well with the sourness of the lactic acid.

Originally had this at a tasting (thanks boozecamel ...I think), now I have a whole bottle for my face.

Appearance. Pours a hazy, rich gold colour with two fingers of white head.

Smell. Crackery sweet wheat and sweet, fresh papaya, guava, and peach. Not very familiar with passionfruit, so using descriptors I know. :-)

Taste. Sour guava! Lightly sweet ...just enough, actually. Some nice sour mango and other tropical fruits I cant place (yeah, that'd be the passionfruit ...the sexiest of all fruits, I reckon)

Mouthfeel. Light+ body, medium-strong carbonation.

Overall. REALLY enjoying this. I don't get nearly enough berliners and this one really hits the spot. Great job, Breakside!

Light straw color with a rediculous carbonation. Foamed up when pourin and retained a solid layer of white bubble. Smells zesty of lemon and lime with a hint of malty wheat. Tropical fruitiness taste starts with papaya blueberry and of course passion fruit. It quickly turns acidic of lime juice. The beer stays sour and finishes long in like fashion. Finishes puckering dry and mouthwateringly sour. Fascinating beer overall. I feel it is a little bit sour for the sake of being sour. I love a sour beer, but this pushes the limits because the sourness isn't balanced by the same richness that many other sours have.

22oz into a tulip. Pours a clear straw color w/ a fizzy, fluffy white head, lively carb.

Aroma is grainy and sour. Crackery wheat malt, sweet fruit, ripe berries.

Taste is a blend of lactic acidity, grainy pale malt and sweet fruit juice.

Mouthfeel is light and crisp, refreshing w/ a clean dry finish.

Overall a delightful little Berliner, fresh, clean and drinkable.

Pour is clear pale golden yellow with lots of tight white head. Nose has some rich rounded honey grains and doughy malt. The fruits are more red tropical punch and more clean grain. Taste is a bit sweeter and no off flavor. Grains aren’t nearly as strong but there, notes of honey, a fuller body than you would normally see on a Berliner. Sugary fruitiness and tropical punch, faint citrus and low acidity. Slightly sour and high carbonation.

Bottled 9/19/14.

Pours a murky golden-yellow with a foamy beige head that settles to wisps of film on top of the beer. Tiny dots of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Tiny chunks of sediment are seen suspended in the beer after the pour. Smell is slightly sour with unripe passionfruit, passionfruit juice, and passionfruit jelly aromas. Taste is much the same with sour grain, passionfruit, and passionfruit juice flavors on the finish. There is a mild amount of acidity on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a good beer that is tasty, refreshing, and easy to drink.

Pours a pale hazy golden color. Head is 2 fingers and white. Lacing and head retention are above average.

Smell is big on passionfruit and tart guava. Malt is very light. Hops and alcohol aren't present. This reminds me of welchs passionfruit juice.

Taste is pretty tart, lots of passionfruit, with an acidic bite. Wheat malt fruitiness is also present. No hops or alcohol are detected.

Mouthfeel is pretty light, beer creates a mouth puckering first reaction, but goes down incredibly smooth. Head fizzed out halfway unfortunately.

Overall this beer was solid for the style. Delivered on the sour and passionfruit front. Would order again.

Smells like light passionfruit. Little bit of stinky garbage feet.

Tastes like very light passionfruit and funky.

Very light. Not much sour. Not too much passionfruit. A little bit bad aroma and flavor.

Not bad. Not wild in a good way. Little lactic acid and bad yeast.

Bottle from Kump. Served in a Cantillon tulip. Bottle is dated June 4th, 2014. Happy birthday to me I guess?

A - Slight gusher. Voluminous white foam settles to a cap, thicker collar, and a few splotches of lace. Transparent pale golden body with plenty of visible bubbles.

S - Lots of passionfruit, which isn't a huge surprise. Lactic acidity and wheat. There's a mild vinous quality, but I don't think this is barrel aged; thinking the tropical notes are evocative of a chardonnay of some sort.

T - Taste is pretty tart, with loads of acidity from both fruit and lactic acid. Wheat is actually a bit dialed down, although it shows up in the finish. Less passionfruit flavor too; kind of one note, but it's pretty enjoyable.

M - Tart, with fairly zesty carbonation. Lingering acidity on the palate. Medium in body, but thankfully not watery.

D - Not the most complex beer, but enjoyable and easy to drink. Appreciate the sub-5% ABV too, as there are too many of these 6%+ Berliners popping up. Probably more appropriate for the summertime.

Pours hazy and golden with no lasting head to speak of. Fizzy but it's a sour right so that's expected.

Passionfruit character is very pronounced, well done. Indistinguishable from those canned orange passion juices I grew up on in Hawaii. Not much else to speak of quite honestly but if you've never known what passion fruit smells like, you do now.

Low level of lactic tartness is evident through the drink along with some lemony wheat and yeasty funk. The sourness never really gets going and the aftertaste is of damp cereal grains. Passionfruit is only on the nose and is indistinguishable from the souring elements of the beer.

Easy to drink with a nice spritzy body and feeling to it. No alcohol to speak of. The damp cereal grains are a distraction and keep it from bumping up to a higher level.

A mild and interesting fruited sour beer. Rough around the edges but a starter beer for those just getting into sours, as the casual drinker can easily pick out the fruit, handle the sour and begin to search out the funk and yeast involved.

Disappears from your glass. Excellent balance between passionfruit and sour.

Everything is in proportion here and works well together. Lightly sour, a little fruit sweetness and finishes clean and refreshing. Similar to a grapefruit mimosa without the overload of sweetness nor presence of high alcohol.
