Poured from a 22oz bottle, this brew lives up to its name with its color. Perfectly clear and a rich golden. A thick 2 finger head that left lots and lots of lacing. The bottle also has great art work.

The smell has hints of sweetness that are countered by an assertive hop aroma that displays pine, citrus, and tropical fruits.

The taste starts with a straightforward and subdued malt profile that puts a bit of sweetness on the tongue and then the hops grab the tongue and take over the show. Spicy, citrusy, a little tropical, a little cheesy, some earth and some pine. A very interesting hop profile. Not sure if I am in love with it but it sure keeps my pallete intrigued. A little bit of sweetness comes back into the finish to balance things out.

Very drinkable for a IIPA with a nice medium body that has just a touch of oily hop resin. It is just a bit too sweet on the finish for me to consider this sessionable but a glass or two would be fine.

Overall this beer is pretty interesting. I think Breakside just decided to get the malts out of the way and let their unique hop profile take charge. Good stuff and worth a try. (1,138 characters)

Look: Opaque and golden. About an inch of fine bubbly head. Very little carbonation.

Smell:Interesting citrus, Light grapefruit followed by heavy passionfruit. Really piney. Smells like a hike through the forests of Oregon.

Taste: Super bright. Very citrus forward. The fruit is there but its not as big of a fruit bomb I was expecting after smelling it. A little biscuity but more like an over wet raw dough than the finished product. A little earthy/piney bitterness on the back end but nothing crazy. At 8.1% (in my opinion) its a little light for a Double but this one is complex and fruity enough to cover the ethanol really well.

Feel: Medium body. Alcohol does have a fun little gum numbing effect. Little oily.

Overall: Really good. I'd strongly consider this if its on tap. Also, cheep enough bomber that its worth giving a try. Thumbs up. (852 characters)

Poured into a Seattle Beer Week pint glass. Pours a light to medium golden amber with fine two finger white head that keep building after pouring; leaves thick lacing. Aroma of herbal, almost dank hops, mild bready malt, lots of tropical and other unusual fruit, intriguing fruit smells. Flavor is very hop-fruit forward with the same exotic fruit flavors that lean toward tropical, but also orange family citrus, citrus hops, mild almost neutral hops. Finishes with herbal, resiny hop bitterness; more flavor than tongue numbing. Medium bodied with light creaminess. A very unusual hop profile that has great and interesting fruit flavors, light resin and herbal qualities. The malt really stands back to let the hops take the fore; I usually like strong malt support in IPAs, but this has so many somwhat exotic, interesting flavors that it works well. A bit on the sweet side, but that's fine with me. Possibly the most hop flavor I can remember with a relatively low bittering component. I liked this a lot. (1,011 characters)

22 oz bottle purchased from Roths Sunnyslope Market in Salem OR $5.99 Pours a clear darker gold with a large thick and creamy white head...nice carbonation strings. Great thick aromas of fruity , and floral hop..lychee, passion fruit..nice. Taste is similar to the aroma very fruity hops with a next to no malt .. But there has to be a substantial malt as the mouth feel is pretty smooth and thick..and nice. Very nice tasty stronger beer..ideal for the 97 degree heat! (469 characters)
