Just went to this place today, I had heard about it and had been meaning to check it out for quite some time. Atmosphere is great, it was real nice outside when i went so they had the doors up with people sitting outside eating and drinking. I sat at the bar and service was great. Had a sampler tray where you get to pick 6 beers. The beers brewed here are for sure different, they like to experiment a bit which is cool. I had the gruit/spruce wheat/IPA/hoppy amber, aztec and saison. All were great but I liked the aztec and spruce wheat the best. I am not much for wheat beers but the spruce added a nice touch. I also had a small sample of their Sazerac beer brewed with star anise...it was ok for a sample...dont think i would like a full pint of the stuff however. The menu was pretty good, I had the fried pickles which i will get those no matter what place has them and a small nacho...both were good. I will go back here again, good place to go to get something you wont find any other place as I said before they like to experiment at Breakside so you are likely to find something different thats for sure.

This was stop #16 for my wife and I on a 21-day pub-crawl from Michigan to N. CA and OR. We stopped here on a Friday evening just to try their beers. The place was packed elbow-to-elbow, and very noisy, which must be an indication of the overall quality of the beers and their food. We would have liked to wait the 40 minutes that the hostess said it would take, but after ordering a beer at the bar, fighting the crowd and the noise level we decided to leave. So this review is based on some assumptions of what we observed and experienced. Our only beer was the Breakside IPA, and it was very tasty. We didn’t get to look at the food menu, but the look and aromas of the food at nearby tables makes one think that this place is well balanced with great beer and great food.

If we are ever in town again we’ll go back here at a less busy time so that we can experience what that large crown was enjoying the night that we were there.

Quite a bit north of the city-centre and east side establishments, but a good place to stop on the way back to Seattle. We stopped in here at Noon on a Sunday after a fabulous brunch at BEAST.

Fairly large split-level space, a bit 'sanitary' for my tastes, but we grabbed a few seats at the bar and watched some of the Seahawks game, so no worries.

Nice selection of beers - unfortunately they had run out of the bbl aztex the night before. still, was able to try the coconut pumpkin stout, grapefruit chamomile sour and sour newton. All pretty solid beers - wanted to try some more, but not on this day. I'll be back.

They have limited bottles to go as well - i wanted a Wanderlust, but they were also out of that. I did grab an Alan FtW though.

finally made it inside; first two times i came here they weren't open. sad. atmosphere is ho-hum, there's a bar, some bar tables, and looks like seating up on the upper level. i don't know.

beers are great. this place knows what it's doing. i've had their beers on tap elsewhere and they are always A+.

food was really good too. everyone i was with loved the food, and the beers. and the waitress was cool too.

glad to visit the motherland, but if i can find their beer on tap elsewhere i'm just as fine with that.
