Poured from bottle into a pint glass

Appearance – The beer pours a very hazy golden yellow color with a small fizzy white head. The head fades very fast leaving on a light fizzy foam on the top of the brew and almost no lacing on the sides of the glass.

Smell – The aroma smells heaviest of candied sugar and lots of wheat. Mixed with these are some yeasty smell which bring with them some orange peel and a decent showing of some spice of clove and nutmeg. Rounding out the aromas is a nice Belgian malt aroma, producing a rather enjoyable smell overall.

Taste – The taste begins with bready and wheaty taste upfront with a nice presence of yeastiness. The yeastiness gets more potent as the flavors advance, being joined by orange and candied sugar as the flavor advances. Along with these flavors come spice with a clove and grains of paradise flavor coming to the tongue. A sour lemon flavor as well as some very light grassy hop tastes comes to the tongue leaving a sweet, wheaty and lightly hopped and lemony flavor to linger on the tongue.

Mouthfeel – The body of the beer is on the medium to lighter side with a carbonation level that is on the slightly lower to average side as well. A bit more carbonation may have been slightly better, but overall it was rather appropriate for the flavor profile.

Overall – A decent wit and one that is well worth a try, but don’t expect something super out of the ordinary. (1,438 characters)

From BeerAdvocate Magazine #76 (May 2013):

A gem in hiding. Having had numerous Witbiers in our travels, this one had a leg up on most with its sheer balance alone. Nails all of the characteristics you look for in this style and a bit bigger than usual at 6% ABV, but still drinkable nonetheless.

Bought from the Beer Store in Moon, pours a slightly hazed golden hue with a bright white head fine lacing followed around the sides of my pint glass. Aroma has sharp coriander citrus wheat notes and evident spicy grains of pardise forming in my nares. Flavors drink well actually with a refreshing tart white ale presence...sharp wheat brings on some citrus qualities maybe a bit of citrus peels. Mouthfeel is medium bodied efffervescent light and spritzy carbonation, goes down easiliy. Another well made Full Pint brew, how many brewers does it take to screw in a light bulb, I'm kidding this is just solid good brewing I'm glad this was a collaboration white ale. (667 characters)

Full Pint Brewing "White Lightning Wit"
12 oz. bottle, no apparent freshness dating
$1.99 @ Wegmans, Collegeville, PA

Notes: Quite cloudy, even in the bottle. Same in glass. Odd, lack of head retention. No lacing. Doesn't appear to have a lot of carbonation. Aroma is nice. Coriander, yeast, wheat, some citrus rind and juice. Flavor is better, adding some lemon and apple to round it out. Not over-spiced. Nicely balanced. Moderate bitterness leads into a dry finish accentuated by coriander spiciness. Carbonation is there, delicately bristling on the tongue; very fine-bubbled. Light-medium in body. Some acidity. Spot-on for the style with the exception of the clarity, which is still OK; and maybe it could use a touch more carbonation, but again OK. Charming. Remarkably drinkable. Need to find more from these guys. (823 characters)

Boulevard's in J'Town, PA had another decent offering of the Full Pint version of Blue Moon...White Lighning Wit. The beear poured a hazy yellow color with decent carbonation, white thin head that dissipates quickly, some lacing. Smell light wheat malt, slight biscuit, hints of spice and lemon, slightly bitter. Taste is basically a dead ringer for Blue Moon....with some spice hints of lemon/citrus. Adding an orange peel...really made this a good beer. Mouthfeel is was good....nice lighter drinkable beer. Overall, nicely done witbier. (539 characters)

Poured from a 12 oz bottle into a pilsner glass. Pours a hazy gold with a thin layer/ring of white foam.

Has that great citrus, lemon smell to it. A little bit of spice and clove to it as well. The taste picks up the spicy/ peppery flavor and some coriander and clove as well. Little bit of tang from the yeast and finishes nice and dry. A nice light mouthfeel with some good carbonation to back it up.

A good refreshing wit that is especially tasty on the warm summer days. (476 characters)
