On tap at the brewery. Poured into a Full Pint pint glass. Served pretty damn cold. Aged in Jack Daniels barrels.
A. Extremely dark, black body with a half inch mocha colored head. A tiny bit of spotty lacing stuck on the glass.
S. This was served cold so it muted the smell a good amount.I get a bit of roasted notes with chocolate. Faint whiskey comes through in the end.
T. At first I get good chocolate and roasted notes, maybe some cocoa. The beauty comes as this warms up! I will say that this is not a whiskey bomb but very well balenced. The whiskey and barrel characters come through nicely. A ton of vanilla, with a small amount of oak,it doesn't hide the base beer but lets it come through with chocolate and roast and rye.
M. Very good chewy full body. Heavy feel. Low carbonation. clean finish.
Overall I was very suprised and pleased of this beer. Get it while you can, because they are only going to bottle this once again till January. Must try!

Imagine my delight (upon reviewing and enjoying this beer) on finding that Full Pint brews in the Pittsburgh area! Definite end of summer road trip! Poured from a 12oz into my tulip glass. Midnight with a few small bubbles... recipe for visual excellence in an aged IS, right? Aromas of coffee, rye, and roasted malt. Everything slightly subdued, though of course, more came to the surface as it warmed up, including the elusive whiskey notes. The taste (for me) was almost off the charts good. Coffee, cocoa nibs, rye bread deliciousness, a hint of whiskey, overall mild and enjoyable. Such a great balance, and not alcohol-heavy (even at 11% ABV). So subtle and nice. Complete 180 degrees from a (to remain unnamed) BBA Imperial that I had the other night that basically broke a bottle of whiskey over my face. Rye Rebellion gave nice, balanced flavors that evolved over time, and changed my mind about the style (which I often find overpowering). Nice, velvety mouthfeel. This hit the spot. Can't wait to age a couple of these bad boys. Thumbs straight up for this one.

Pours a dark brown color with ruby edges. The thin layer of beige head quickly dissipates into oblivion. The nose has roasted notes but it is quite difficult to detect the rye whiskey. This offering is full bodied and the flavor profile has both roasted notes and the much anticipated rye whiskey essence. The whiskey presence is soft and merges nicely with the roasted bitterness on the finish.
This is well done and enjoyable, but it does not hold up to the very best barrel-aged stouts out there. Then again, I did not have to wait in line and deal with a one or two bottle limit to purchase this beer. So, there’s that…
