Pours jet black with a thin brown head. Nice brown collar throughout. Aroma is lots of chocolate, some coffee, lots of earthiness, and a little scent of bourbon. Taste has a really nice earthy chocolate tone. The rye/bourbon also comes through pretty well. Tons of malt. Tons of malt. Yes, it needed repeating. Mouthfeel is wonderfully creamy.

Thanks to Shane for this one!

A: Pours deep black with a small tan head on top that forms nicely, but reduces quickly to a ring on top. Solid lacing all around the glass.

S: Some rye whiskey up front with tons of chocolate underneath. Not much else going on, faint brown sugar.

T: More of the whiskey, some spicy rye, chocolate, more roast on the flavor than on the aroma. The whiskey lingers on the finish as does a bit of rye.

M: Medium to full bodied with moderate carbonation. Not boozy, but warm as it goes down.

O: Pretty good beer, good fir sipping over the course of an evening.

A: Very dark in color soft carbonation

S: Aged in rye whiskey barrels but it smells like a good stout on the nose with roasted coffee and chocolate then some vanilla smells

T: smooth rich chocolate with some liquor taste I really would have guessed bourbon very smooth

M: Very smooth and surprisingly creamy for a barrel aged beers just an excellent mouthfeel

O : fairly impressed here, it's got a very smooth mouthfeel no heat the barrel is right there but not in your face it's an astonishingly well rounded BA stout

12 oz. bottle poured into a snifter

Pours jet black with one finger of dark brown head that fizzles to a thin collar with light lacing. Bright herbal hops are the first aroma I notice. Lots of fresh-ground coffee, cocoa, vanilla, and whiskey as well.

Taste was pretty much as expected. Bittersweet dark chocolate with a hint of dark roast coffee. Smokey vanilla and caramel. Then a fair amount of warming whiskey on the finish. Not overwhelming by any means, but there's no mistaking what this is. The body is a little heavier than medium, but not much. Lightly carbonated and very smooth. Somewhat thick and creamy, coats the mouth well. If this was just a bit heavier and fuller it would be near perfection for me.

Overall I liked it quite a bit. I wouldn't call it "boozy" but it's probably close. It's a sipper for sure, and a darn good one I'd say. I love whiskey and when I'm in the mood for a big strong stout I will definitely look for this one again.

Black color with almost no head to speak of except surface swirls.

Smoky, woodsy, chocolaty. I would have liked it but for the smell of burnt Lego men at the end.

Black licorice, chocolate, loads of spicy rye and wood. Not much whiskey heat to speak of.

Tick and creamy, smooth.

I really liked this one, aside from the burnt plastic smell. It has good flavor and I enjoyed what the rye brings to the table. It drinks surprisingly smooth for 11%.
