look: 4.25 | smell: 3.75 | taste: 3.75 | feel: 3.75 | overall: 3.75

Appearance: Pours a slightly hazy goldenstraw with an impressive head that leaves a web of lace

Smell: Pilsner malts with a hint of grapefruit

Taste: A very clean, bready malt bill opens the flavor parade with the hops developing in the middle; while there is some grapefruit from the citra, it is not overly pronounced and fades a bit in the finish, which is rather dry

Mouthfeel: Light to medium body with moderate carbonation

Overall: Decent enough for a session IPA but I have had others whose hop profile I prefer to this

This poured out as a very nice looking hazy amber color. The head was cream colored and maintained a great retention and outstanding lacing. The smell of the beer is lightly hopped with some herbal notes. The taste is semi-sweet with a caramel flavor up front, some hoppy herbal notes in the finish. It's also floral tasting too. The mouthfeel is light and very smooth. Very drinkable as well. Overall this beer is delicate and quite nice. Could drink a few of these in a sitting I'm sure.

Label says to look on the website for the hops used, but there is nothing listed there. Nice malt body with a pretty good level of spices. Overall it's pretty rich for the style. Much more so than you would normally see. It's still pretty good though. I can dig it.

Full Pint : Hobnobber

LOOK: Pours a light amber, good clarity. Soapy white head forms and leaves behind a web of lace.

SMELL: Malty almost wort-like aroma with some citrus and herbal hops.

TASTE: Citrus, herb and pine, mellow toffee like malt. Pretty straight forward, light malt bill and lets the hop stand out.

FEEL: Light to medium bodied, well carbonated.

OVERALL: The bottle states the hop used will change in every batch. As it is, not bad, but I would love to see what Citra would be like.

- session ipa. best by 12/31/13. Consumed 09/18/13. Lot #359. 4% abv.

A: Pumpkin orange, good strong carbonation factor, some overcast clarity wise. The head is short lived, dirty ivory in color with a thin frothy covering.

S: Fresh grapefruit pulp, wet, juicy, hint of fresh lemon-orange mixture, with a sweet hint of caramel pine. Pretty good level of awareness.

T: Flavor was dry, pilsner grains, hint of straw, hopping is lightly dry, not as fresh or wet as on the nose. Pine, woodsy feel with some grapefruit straw, small toastedness and sweetness arrives in flashes along with some semi-dry orange peel.

M: Decent crispness, light body, grainy pilsner like mouthful, lightly rough, powdery pilsner coating on the tongue.

O: Overall for 4% has a good deal of hoppiness. The maltiness falls a bit victim here of low abv. Wish the citra hops were a bit more pronounced flavor wise, nose was good though. At end of day do you rate per style or as a session interpretation. Label says its a ipa, BA is calling it a pale ale? again dilemias.

Pours a hazy orange-ish to copper color with a light tan head. In the aroma, a small citrus hop. In the taste, starts citrus to a mellow, dry pine hop. A small hop bite and medium to lighter bodied mouthfeel, with a small dry pine hop in the aftertaste. Nice hops yet very mellow, not to shabby.

Like Founder All Day IPA it's Full Pints take on a session ale

A: Dark amber brown, good carbonation and a 1/2 inch opaque colored head
S: Mild Chinnok hops and bready malts.
T: Mild hop assult with minnimal bitterness and balance. Not bad
M: Light but good body for a session ale
Overall it's good but I can think of better IPA's even session ones.

Hobnobber is a very pale gold, something in the transition phase from yellow, and with plenty of haze to it. It's extremely bubbly at first, with lots of bigger bubbles clinging to the sides of the. The pure white head that forms is small but extremely compact. It's also got some good stick, though most of the lacing is left in a ring at the top, while some spotting and light patching follow below.
The smell is a bit too light to pull much out of, but I do get grapefruit. A bit of something herbal and a barely discernible note of bread from malts follows.
The flavor is as grapefruit-forward as the nose, followed by a lighter touch of the herbal note and a balancing malt. There's enough bitterness for a pale ale, but taming the flavor isn't what makes a "session IPA." This beer needs more strength and depth all-around to improve, but it's easy drinking. Pith blows suddenly into the finish for a lingering chalkiness on the palate.
It seems a bit too heavily carbonated in this light-bodied beer at first, but that calms down. The crispness doesn't fade but I'm not getting anything smooth here. It thins off at the end of the sip.

Poured into a perfect pint.

4.0 A: Lightly hazed deep yellow color. Two fingers of frothy white head. Retention is good and a healthy ring of lacing is left.

3.25 S: Earthy hop aroma and a light neutral maltiness. Some yeastiness as well. Overall, not too complex or potent, but it still smells good.

3.25 T: Moderate bitterness and earthy hop flavor. Mild to moderate yeastiness and a mild neutral maltiness.

3.25 M: Lighter medium body. Good moderate carbonation. A touch of creaminess and refreshing.

3.25 D: It's okay, but nothing special.

Poured from bottle into pint glass

Appearance – The beer pours a deep amber color with a thick white head. The head has wonderful retention and fades very slowly over time to give a great amount of lacing and a very persistent film on the top of the brew.

Smell – The aroma is a nice blend of sweet malt and fruit as well as hop. A caramel and tangerine aroma create the sweet aromas while the hop aromas are a mix of earthy and light floral aromas.

Taste – The taste starts out of a lightly roasted/bready malt flavor mixed with bitter earthy and pine hop flavors. All these flavors create a base for the brew. Toward the middle, the pine retains its strength, but the earthy flavors increase with the beer getting less bready and a little more roasty. A dry and bitter earthy flavor are left at the end and leaves a somewhat unpleasant dirty aftertaste on the tongue.

Mouthfeel – Not too surprisingly, at only 4 % abv the body of the beer is quite thin. The thinness really does not suit the hop or the malt flavors. The carbonation level is rather average, and while it does some to complement the thin body, overall the mouthfeel could use some work.

Overall – From the initial experiences (appearance and smell) I had high hopes. Unfortunately the taste and mouthfeel were rather poor, creating a not too tasty beer. One I will not go to again.

look: 4 | smell: 3.5 | taste: 2.75 | feel: 3.25 | overall: 3.25

Appearance - uncapped, this one starts a rise of bubbles up the bottleneck. Poured this foamer into a shaker, lots of head, three fingers at least. A bright cloudy light orange color, tendrils of bubbles streaming and screaming from below. Leaves the Devil's Tower of foam in the center as the head fades from around the sides.

Aroma - lots of grapefruit to this pale ale, some orange as it sets up.

Taste - caramel malts, a darkness to them that I like. The hops come in briefly sweet, then harshly bitter, then going rather pungent and unpleasantly bitter. I believe this one is on the edge of infection. Most of the flavor profile is strong and clean for the pale ale style, but the aftertaste is so harsh it is out of character. Good grapefruit essence mid-palate, not fading until the very end.

Mouthfeel - super carbonated, a little too much. Decent smooth feel.

Overall - even through the off-flavor, this is a good beer, a good session PA on draft I would imagine. I could see bumping the taste three or four notches without the infection. Another one from my brew buddy Steve.

A: Slightly hazy pale gold in color. Forms a moderate sized, tight-bubbled, white head good retention and some moderate lacing.

S: Aroma is pleasant. Pale malts and biscuit, along with some grapefruit and pithy citrus hops.

T: Taste is fairly light. Light pale malts, biscuit, some light Pilsner malt notes. But the hops are fairly subdued as well. There is some grapefruit, grapefruit pith, and maybe a little woody pine, but everything is very light. The only thing that is not light is the bitterness.

M: On the lighter side of medium. Dry. Appropriate carbonation. Moderate bitterness comes off quite aggressively and borders on astringency.

O: A decent APA, one brewed to be sessionable. And at 4% ABV, that is understandable. However, while the brewers gave this beer a good dose of astringent bitterness, they did not balance it out with any malty sweetness or hoppy flavors. As such, this beer comes off as dry, almost flavorless and rather bitter.

Single from Abe's.

An interesting idea, a session single hop pale ale, with the single hop changing with each batch. Which means these reviews will have limited use. I went to their website, as the bottle suggests, to learn what hop was used in this batch, but found no info.

Dark amber body, deep haze, topped by a hefty four fingers of off-white rocky foam. Good lacing.

Earthy aroma with a bit of citrus.

Very earthy, almost musty tasty. Big bitterness. Long lingering bitterness. Very static taste throughout.

Light-plus mouthfeel. Session like but with some chew.

Not a beer I'll be looking to revisit.
