Bottle from jbwimer. Thanks! Pours pitch black and thick looking with a one finger mocha colored head. Big roasty aroma with a bit of bittersweet chocolate and dark fruits. Flavor is strong roastiness, light bittersweet chocolate, more roast, and some nice lingering earthy coffee tones left on the palate. Big bold mouthfeel to match the flavors with medium carbonation. This is a really excellent big roasty stout. Serious body and flavor for the ABV. Underrated brew here.

Appearance - deep, dark, black, no light getting through. Nice finger of mocha with good stick all around.

Aroma - big roasty grains, Hershey's syrup, pineapple/mango citrus, a light backdrop of espresso.

Taste - huge, ashy and burnt malts, followed by sharply bitter hops that are dry, astringent, and a bit medicinal. Brewed to give the hops equal billing, but they are taking over like walkers in a cemetery. The swallow shows a little citrus, but winds up medicinal and a bit unpleasant on the finish.

Mouthfeel - good smoothness, crisp, good body.

Overall - I dig everything but the flavor! Too bad, I wonder if letting it sit a few years might back that bitterness off enough to let the stout character dominate. That'd be my advice - to myself anyway.

The aroma and appearance are true to the style. The pour is thick and syrup like. Night black with a thin tan head, the flavor is strongly cough medicine and biting alcohol. It's mouthfeel is thick. A big disappointment. Missing the normal roasted chocolate and strong coffee flavor.

Another from a recent drop-off by my local, in-person trader, tone77, who keeps me satiated with bottles. Many thanks!

From the bottle: "They keep coming back in a thirsty lust for great taste"; "From the Depths of the Full Pint fermenters comes a Spine Tingling Stout that will have beer nerds returning from their graves. We single hopped this brew with [C]ascade for a citrus character perfectly balanced with roasted malts for unrelenting great taste[.]"; "West Coast Style Stout"; "Beer Nerd Stats: Malts: Pilsner, Crystal, Roasted Barley, Black Hops: Cascade O. G. 16.5 IBU 110 Alc. By Vol. 7%".

The trick to a good aggro pour is knowing when to begin backing off to avoid overflow. Also, pour away from the direction of the computer and its keyboard. I have become proficient at both and this time, I created two fingers of dense, rocky, deep-tan/light-brown head with good retention. Color was a deep, dark-brown (SRM = 44) allowing ZERO light penetration. Nose was roasty, notes of dark chocolate and even a light smokiness. I don't always drink stouts, but when I do, this is the kind of thing that I really enjoy. Mouthfeel was medium-to-full, not quite creamy, but close. The taste was like licking charred wood and I mean that in a good way. It tasted like the aftermath of a campfire, plus some dark chocolate for good measure. Finish was dry, roasty and while not enough to tempt me back from the grave, it was a dang good beer. Thanks again, tone77!

P- Wegmans

A- thick black and opaque. Half finger head that is coffee brown. Some nice carbonation on the top of the head as well but no real lacing.

S- roasted malts and toffee mixed with hints of citrus hops.

F- the toffee/coffee malt becomes more pronounced on the tongue than in the nose.

M- heavy bodied stout that feels coffee like.

O- a good stout on a cold night. Above average. would purchase in a growler.
