Pours pure golden in color, great for the style.

The smell hits you in the nose from the bottle and in the pour. The first taste to come through is the pils, however turns sour and bitter quickly.

Overall, the beer is indicative of the style. However, the bitter notes are overpowering.

Poured into a pilsner: Light, transparent gold with a finger of head that drops to a thing covering & leaves some tendrils of lacing.

Smells of cereal, lemon drops, very lightly floral.

Taste is bracingly bitter & dry, with a light wafery quality, a tiny bit of lemon zest. I always smirked when the Bros. have said it in their reviews, but here goes: aspirin. I get it now, there's a chalky, powdery kind of bitterness like aspirin or baking soda. It lessens when I take bigger mouthfuls, but yeah.

Light feel, that aspirin taste really hits in the salivary glands & leaves a kind of unpleasant sensation. Hmm.

I love the context & the tie-in. Pittsburgh Dad's awesome, you can't not like this beer, but yeah, not the greatest.

This brew pours about an 80% opaque golden color with a small head which dissipates quickly and light lacing. There is also a lot of carbonation.

The smell is straw, wet hay, sweet malts, caramel, citrus and floral hops.

The taste is sweet malts, which dominate throughout, followed by caramel also lemon, light orange peel.

The mouthfeel is crisp and clean; the high carbonation helps with the crispness. The brew goes down smoothly with no discernible hop bitterness.

Overall this is an average Pilsner. It is not bad but it does not make me jump for joy either. I would drink it again and it is worth trying.

A: It pours into my Pittsburgh Steelers 6-time Super Bowl Champs glass perfectly. It finishes right at the tip of the Super Bowl XLIII logo, just like Santonio Holmes' toe tipped inside the endzone for the game winning touchdown. It doesn't have much of a head, but there's a lot of action in the beer as bubbles rise to the top. 3.5

S: Sweet malts, a slight fruitiness, and a strange tart character dominate the aroma. Bready and clean, I must say that it smells a bit strange. It's not unlike how I imagine Jeffy smells after he spends all day causing trouble down at the crick. 2.5

T: Oh I tell ya, this better be kept in the downstairs refrigerator where the kids can't get it. The beer is very sweet, but unfortunately that's about it. The fruitiness is semi-prevalent, but isn't strong enough to make this more than an average pilsner. 3

MF: Light and prickly with plenty of carbonation, the beer is an easy drinker. One that I would surely order at the next Pens game.

Value: Much like the Pirates' 2013 roster, this beer is a great value at less than $10 per sixpack. 3-2-1 buy it and win. 4

O: The label says it all “Is it a craft beer. No, if yinz want crafts, go down to the church fair with your gram!”...and while you're there, how about you pick me up something that tastes a bit better, like an I.C. Light!. 3

This beer suffers from many of the same issues that most lacking pilsners seem to carry. Cloying malty sweetness. The clogged flavor doesn't allow any nuance to show through. Just a wad of mild grain and thick sweetness. Feel is smooth, but it doesn't really matter much. This wrinkly shirt needs ironed.

Bottle > Mason Pint

A - Clear and extremely light straw color, no head, no lacing.
S - Sweet grains, a little apple, pear, a little skunky
T - Very sweet grains, light pear, a touch of pepper.
M - Light and refreshing, a tad dry
O - Too sweet for my tastes, but an OK pils. Cool idea for the local area, especially if you like the Pittsburgh Dad skits. Consumed to celebrate the Pens overtime win against Vancouver.

Pours a bright golden color with a sudsy, crackling head. Recedes to a ring around the edges. Smells bready with a cracker like yeast influence. Faint stewed hop smell. In the taste, bread, lemon citrus, grass and biscuit. Has a light zesty bitterness. Perhaps more wheat influence than usual for a German pils, but still easy drinking and pretty nice.

12oz brown bottle with no freshness date.

Good drinking here, while this beer may not be shaking the ground underneath me with each sip I had no problem quaffing it back.

LOOK: Clear straw color, good amount of froth and stickage on the glass.

SMELL: Spicy hop, herbal, dried grass, doughy malt, lemon pith, semi-clean

TASTE: Snappy carbonation, hay, earthy, peppery, spicy, chalky, ample hop bitterness, slight alcoholic warmth, faintly biscuity, drying grainy finish

Poured from bottle into a pint glass

Appearance – The beer pours a light golden color with a one finger of pure white head. The head has a good level of retention, slowly fading to leave a light level of lace on the sides of the glass.

Smell – The aroma of the beer is mainly of a bready and caramel nature. Mixed with these aromas are some lighter fruit smells of apple as well as some other sweeter toffee aromas. A very light grassy hop smell is there as well rounding out the aroma nicely.

Taste – The taste begins bready with some caramel and apple sweetness upfront. The bready taste creates a base for the brew remaining relatively constant throughout the taste. The sweet however, does not act as a base and instead loses strength as the taste advances to the end. While the sweet fades, some hop flavors of a grassy and hay-like nature come to the tongue. Along with the hop so too comes some more grainy flavors, which when combined with the rest, leave a lightly sweetened, bready and crisp pilsner flavor to linger on the tongue.

Mouthfeel – The body of the beer is on the thinner side with a carbonation level that is on the higher side. Both are rather appropriate for the styles and the flavors with the lighter body and higher carbonation keeping it feeling rather refreshing.

Overall – A very easy drinking brew with a nice blend of bready, sweet, and hopped. While not anything to go nuts about it is easy to drink and relatively refreshing.

Pours a gold/honey gold color. Lace deposits are delicate and trickling. Head retention is okay. Clarity is nice.

Citrusy hops permeate a floral aroma of malt grassiness. Very mellow ale sweetness with a pilsner-like grain crispness.

Has a nice citrus note that reminds me of grapefruit and lemon, but is mostly dominated my grainy malts, herbal grassiness, and a light floral touch. Bitterness is decent, considering it's not terribly that dry. I can see where this brewed to a pilsner style now, although it lacks the crispness. A little powdery and medicinal, but it promotes more dryness. The feel is smooth with a crackle. Chalky, but refreshing.

Maybe it's not meant to be a German Pils, but I could be wrong. I'd rate it higher as a pale lager or even a Czech Pils.
