Had this on tap in the B&C. Not sure if this is going to be a regular brew or just a one off or even a seasonal.
For all intents and purposes this is a session beer. It looks clean and it tastes mild and inoffensive. Guinness drinkers could drink this without going "ewww!"
Update: have also had it no cask. Head doesn't last on cask.

On-tap at Alfie Byrne's, Dublin, Ireland
A: The beer is black when viewed from afar. Upon closer inspection, dark amber hues are visible near the edge of the glass when it is held up to a bright light. It poured with a quarter finger high tan head that died down, but consistently left a thin head covering the surface and a lacy coating of bubbles down the sides of the glass.
S: Light to moderate aromas of dark, burnt malts and coffee beans are present in the smell.
T: The taste follows the smell and has flavors of dark chocolate malts and roasted coffee beans. The chocolaty flavors seem to become stronger once the beer warms up. No bitterness is perceptible.
M: It feels medium-bodied on the palate and has a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This is a fine representation of the style. It packs in a lot of chocolaty aromas and flavors while still managing to be easy to drink.

I'm thrilled about this brewery after having tried this and their other offering (which is better). We can expect great things in the future from them; it's just up to us to 'support' them - which I for one will be doing *ahem* as much as possible.
I had the treat of trying this beer in the Bull and Castle, Dublin, where it was on draught. If you can't find it there, check the two Porterhouse pubs.
It was served in a generic pint glass.
A: One finger head of fair cream and decent retention. Dark black colour. Appealing.
Sm: Roasted barley, coffee, vanilla, alcohol, bourbon?, caramel. A solid, complex range of flavours. I'm very excited for my first sip.
T: Caramel, along with all the other notes on the nose. The caramel especially greets you on the open. Very unbalanced, as alcohol craters the tongue on the finish. Would be better if the alcohol weren't so obvious, but is very successful as a complex porter, especially coming from a new brewery.
Mf: Nicely smooth and dry, but not quite dry enough for the style. I miss the dryness on the climax required for a good porter.
Dr: Good, but pricey. It doesn't hide its ABV well, which is shocking considering how modest it really is. All things considered, this is a brew everyone should try, and a brew I'm proud to have alongside Guinness in an Irish pub. Now if we can just get Budweiser and Carlsberg out of pubs, we'll be set.
Note that this beer is not a nitro-draught, a relative rarity for an Irish-brewed beer of this style.

This is the second beer to be launched by Trouble Brewing Company (before Christmas 2010) and it is an extremely drinkable offering.
Review of a pint on tap at the Bull & Castle, Dublin.
The appearence is an almost black body with a thin cream coloured head. This is not a nitrogenated offering!
The aroma is a touch of coffee to a roasted maltiness.
The taste is well balanced; there is a nice touch of hop bitteness to it to counteract the caramel sweetness.
It is the "drinkability" that is the standout for me. I could drink this all night.

Pours brown-black with garnet highlights and a thick creamy beige head that holds. Tar, kola nut, a metallic twang, and moist earth on the nose.
Layered dark malts: fresh ground coffee, crusty brown loaf, some black malt sourness, a bit of brown sugar and earthy spicy hops. Sweetens and rounds out as it warms.
Baking chocolate finish with a roasty bite that comes and goes and a bitter, fruit pit linger. Light to medium, round, some fizz, some cling, dry.
Much more traditional in the bottle. A chewy pint that finishes clean, I'm not sure what there is here to call it a porter and not a stout - any roast plays peek-a-boo.
One of the best of the new crop of Irish dark beers.

On tap at Against the Grain, Dublin.
Pours black that shows murky chestnut in full light with a solid cap of tan froth - a proper stout head. Nose is cocoa powder with slight earth and strawberry pulp. Dark malts are big: molasses and smoke with some nut and kola notes, birch beer snap in the middle, and clean mint and herb hop end. Stewed fruit as it warms. Clove oil finish and dry linger. Slight chew.
Definitely distinguishes itself from stout in it's total lack of roast character. And light enough to stay on all night. All the same, I'm just not sure I like the flavor profile all that much.
Interested to see if the Irish markets goes for this in place of the usual dry stout.

Poured into pint glass.
A: Finger head with big bubbles which didn't linger, dark brown in color.
S: Smell was mostly roasted malts with a hint of milk chocolate.
T: Taste was similar to smell, with a bit of a bitter hop and coffee towards the end. Not a whole lot of flavor there, and fairly one dimensional.
M: Typical porter mouthfeel, medium-low carbonation and fairly thin.
O: Overall disappointed, will have to try this one on tap.
Disclaimer: I drank this about thirty minutes after having a very flavorful and delicious weizenbock, which may have affected my palate.

On-draft at The Black Sheep
A: Deep brown. 0.75 (tan) fingernail head.
S: Roasted dark malt, chocolate, oak, and a hints of faint coffee and vanilla.
T: Loads of roasted malt with intense taste of bitter chocolate. Hint of vanilla with a touch of brown sugar and caramel sweetness.
M: Medium bodied with light carbonation.
O: This is simply an average beer. Not too much stands out about it, but it is not necessarily bad either. To be a bit more memorable, I'd say it needs more oomph.

A-dark brown color with a decent tan head and some lacing
S-rich dark malt, chocolate, coffee, hint of sweetness
T-dark roasted malt, coffee, chocolate, light char, hint of molasses, mild bitter finish
F-medium body with light to moderate carbonation, smooth
O-a nice porter with great flavor and surprisingly low ABV, easy drinking
