Bay Ale is a copper coloured, traditional ale with malt and hop aromas and a smooth and well-balanced flavour. Hoppy, yet malt-forward this ale strikes a great balance. Using Perle, Bobek and Willamette hops alongside a strong malt backbone this beer is both for savoring and thirst-quenching, depending on your mood.

Pours a brown to reddish color with a beige, stable head.
Aromas are of wet grass and caramel malts, together with a coppery citrus whiff.
Has a light and refreshing body with a well developed, effervescent carbonation to it, creating an intriguing refreshment.
Tastes of caramel wrapped old leaves, bitter lime rind and opposing sweet caramel. These initial high contrasts result in an intriguing tension, highlighted by the beers soft, yet bubbly carbonation, enriched by a note of dough. Finishes heavy on the limes with a pungent bitterness and lingering, resinous malts.
This is straight forward, bitter, sweet and intense. Lovely!

On tap. Dark red color with a small amount of tan head. Malt and caramel smell. Smooth and creamy feel. Caramel malt flavors with a dry finish. Pretty good.

500ml bottle from Reilly's, Lisnaskea (£2.50):
Quite a dark amber to red beer with a fairly thin head that covers half the surface. It's a malty & quite sweet offering with some caramel & bread coming through a little further on. The taste is malty too with a lot of bread malts & caramel again plus some toasted flavours too follow but it's balanced & easy going with moderate carbonation. Nothing spectacular but a another fairly decent offering from the brewery & one I'd have again I guess.

Had a pint at Oslo on 05/08/15, at the Original Brewery location in Salthill. Had just driven from Dublin in a car with the steering wheel on the wrong side of the car, on the wrong side of the road in construction traffic and needed a tall cool one. Galway Bay fit the bill!
Thank you Allen! The food was great also!

NOTE: recipe is constantly changing at the brewery. Review is for a Bay Ale drank in April, 2015.
Poured a cloudy, dark red/mahogany colour.
Minimal aroma, very faint sweet malts.
Clean, light, mellow sweet malt flavours. Very basic, yet nice, Irish red ale.Very session-able.
