great beer by nantahala! was really glad i was able to grab a couple of these. so comparing this to life is like by cigar city and cherry rye by goose island. appearance is nice and dark...a little lighter than the others but still solid enough for the style. not as much cherry in the smell as the other two but certainly more bourbon. taste is great...while there isn't as much cherry as the other two, there is more chocolate which helps with the character that they are going for. the mouthful is also lighter but again, i think that might be a good thing to help with the chocolate and cherry. overall a great beer and really enjoyed this. glad i have another!

Big barrel presence in the nose. Lots of milk chocolate in the flavor. Coffee aftertaste. Cherry is there but more subdued than in the base beer. Feel is a bit thin. Tasty, very drinkable. Would like a little more character overall.
