Purchased from Triangle Wine in Morrisville NC for 12.99 in a 64 oz Growler.

ABV listed in store was 4.5% not 3.8% ?

Tastes great, great smoky/nutty taste and finishes real clean...nice bitterness and very light tasting overall...impressed considering i bought it from a store in a growler.

not trying to come off like an advertisement but Triangle Wine has a insane beer collection, easily over 3000 different beer singles in stock and a great cold growler selection....and Nantahala Brewing is well represented...good quality growlers.

what i didnt like about this beer?...its a bit expensive and it has a slightly weird aftertaste...other than that no real complaints.

recommended if you like brown ales.

Growler poured into a Duvel tulip. See-thru medium molasses body. A thick cap of light tan head is in no hurry to go anywhere. Plentiful lacing, too.

Pleasantly toasty and grainy nose with hints of cocoa and light sweetness. Surprisingly bold and flavorful brew. Quite bitter with a hop character that hits leafy, citric and tealike territory. Plenty roasty and toasty. A juicier feel than one might expect, but it finishes with a nice lingering light roast. Very nice brown ale.

CASK! Pours moderate brown with a thin tan head. Surprising carbonation for the cask. Malts, toffee and maple or honey? dominate with a nice hop finish. There's something herbal in there too. Not excellent, but very niice brew. I will drink it again.

At Revolution Pizza in Charlotte. Lighter brown pour, half finger of off white head. Sticks ok.

Aroma is very light. Some nutty malt, tea, herbal.

Lots of herbal character here as well. Some malt, hazelnut, toffee. Tea and then light chocolate in the finish.

A bit thinner, but it is certainly a session brew. Listed 4 something abv. Not bad, but not something I would really reach for again.

Appearance: Pours a clean, amber-brown body with a sustained, off-white head.

Smell: A nose smelling of oven-toasted bread, oven-toasted nuts, and Damson plums (not toasted) with modest backing of fine cocoa powder.

Taste: Toasted maltiness with lightly sweet traces of cocoa and brown sugar start things off. A little bit of dark fruitiness felt now and again. Growing nuttiness throughout. Small amount of complimentary hop bitterness. Nutty, dry maltiness on the easy finish.

Mouthfeel: Medium-light body. Medium carbonation.

Drinkability: Makes for very easy-drinking, especially given the low amount of alcohol within, but it also has scads of flavor. When making a growler purchase after stopping in at the adjacent Across the Trax bar, this was the beer I went with.

Another new one, I hung around here for a good part of the day to male sure I could try them all.

Nice pour here, medium brown color with some light touches of reddish color shining through on the sides and bottom of the glass. A light head comes up, off white and fleating but does leave behind a decent amount of lacing in its wake. Aroma is light molasses and caramel, touches of brown sugar, light chocolate as well. As it warms maybe an herbal hop note, but not really that prevelant. The feel was dead on, nice medium body and well carbonated as a brown ale should be, not too heavy at all. Sweet and clean the flavor goes down smooth and consistent without an issue. Nice sweet caramel and roasted malt flavor hangs on the tongue long after it finishes.

A really solid brown here, I would have taken a growler of this one, it just seemed to work for me.
