"A traditional German amber lager with predominantly Munich malts giving it a toasty, bready flavor. Subtle hops complement the malt character. Starts sweet yet finishes clean and dry. Deep copper color welcomes autumn and the celebrations of fall. "

I am not a fan of the Marzen style. There are a few I like and the Rivers End is by far my favorite. They got it right with the malt profile. Not too sweet with a nice toasty and bready flavor. When I think Autumn, this is what I want. I can't wait until this is brewed again.

Quickie:

Pale copper with a good dose of rose wine like pink. Short head falls to naught pretty quick.... nose is an unusual prickly booze and some lighter German malt, lightly toasted, plus undefined minor hop bitters... flavor is pretty well attenuated, light in flavor, but fizzy and with a hint of DMS at the very last. Otherwise clean. Toasty and lightly bready, could use some more malt heft IMO. Just average, I would go full on German malt next time and bring out more of ths sweet nature of this thing. Perhaps even dial down the ABV since it's a bit too thin to carry it at the moment...are these really Noble hops? Nice to see a brand new brewery doing a bevy of styles, but this isn't up to the other beers I've had from Nantahala.

Appearance: Poured a clear, light golden-amber body with a modestly-sized, white head.

Smell: Sweetish, bready scent, fairly clean overall, and coupled with a small sniff of baked apples and herbs.

Taste: Bready, very lightly toasty flavor from the German malts. A couple squirts of golden syrup sweetness. Minute nuttiness. Light honeycrisp apple fruitiness. Herbal hop profile with sufficient bitterness to balance. Drying finish.

Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium carbonation.

Drinkability: It's nice. Really, it is.

Another new one from one of the newest brewers out there. This one was calling me to it and I did not waste anytime. A nice dark amber pour yielded loads of carbonation and a nice thick head of off white that really stuck out and clung to the sides of the glass.

Aroma is caramel malts, nice bready notes and a hint of bittering hops. Nothing extreme here in anyway, just straight forward and well received. First sip is very clean, nice light body and well carbonated profile let the flavors pop. Nice dose of caramel and grains right from the start. Smooth with nice notes of cereal and herbal grasses rolling through mid palate before a slightly dry and sweet finish caps it off and leaves you looking for another sip.

Overall a very solid offering here. Nothing at all to shy away from and more proof that they really know what they are doing up there. I would have no issue trying this one at all.
