Heard this name tossed up a lot in forums with out ever understanding what it was. Saw that i was in the area of one, so we decided to get dinner here...

Atmosphere: extremely busy brewpub. I didn't love the set up. Long benches aligned the room. Basically you'll be sitting with strangers. quite loud and hectic.

I didn't like the fact that there are 2 lines: one for ordering food and one for ordering food or beer. Its all okay when you're ordering your food and first beer; however, when it is time for a second beer you have to wait in a long line, which will really demotivate you from buying a second beer...pizza cools quickly!

Service/selection: pizza ports beers and visitor beers....the visitor beer selection is better than most places i went to in CA...but what is the need? pizza port beers are primo in my opinion. i absolutely loved them. i wish they would start bottling. The porter was one of my favorites ever, as well as the hefe!

Food: pizza was so perfect and delicious...not much else needs to be said...

If ever in the vicinity of a pizza port brewery, you need to go! this place is amazing.

Food matches the beer. It's in OB cmon... 25-35 on tap. Lots of guests beers. AND... if you have never had PP beers... They dont bottle much, they share kegs with all 5 locations, always a brown, stout, something BA, a quad, a sour.... They have more current recepies than most. They have been at it longer than most and have got it down.

Pizza Port OB was a great stop. More selection than the Carlsbad location, but getting beer was rough. They have one place to order beers and the line got to 20+ people for most of our visit. Service was fine once you made it to the front of the line.

Pizza was great and the vibe was cool - definitely a beach town feel.

Despite the long lines ill go back whenever I get the chance!

I used to scoff on the Pizza Port operations just because I would be relegated to the Solana Beach location which is by far the worst in terms of well.... everything. Ocean Beach is by far the best and being in the most stonerish area of San Diego, well it's a match made in Gomorrah!

Piss pour picnic middle school lunch seating but outside the vibes are nice. You can smoke, sit with your dog, drink killer beers, and eat some unique pizzas. The OB pizza is by far the best. This one also has the best selection of beers often times with good guest beers like Angel's Share and Alpine stuff. Beer/pizza is a bit pricey.

Walking distance to the beach. Very nice.

Lots of beers on taps, including a bunch of house brews and lots of guest brews. The pizza is great. The atmosphere is fun and relaxed, and you can't beat the location right next to the beach.

This was a must stop on my San Diego trip, as I could hit a great brewpub and hit the beach. Parking was very difficult, but eventually I found a pay lot that had some space. The building was small, and is filled with long picnic tables which creates a communal dining and drinking experience. Some tanks are visible from behind the bar, and the kithen is open. Little bit of a dive bar feel here with all the signs and stickers on the walls, and surf boards hangong from the ceiling.

The beers were fantastic and fresh, and the pizza was good, but being from Jersey I expected more based on the reviews - NY / NJ pizza still rules. Service was prompt despite the line, and the pizza was out in 10 minutes. All in all it was a good time.

The place is not small but it's not large either. When it's crowded you may have a hard time finding a seat. But the atmosphere is very chill, laid-back OB vibe which is nice. The service is friendly and I had no complaints. It's kind of a serve yourself as no one will come to your table to take your order.

The beer selection is by far one of the best. So many styles represented, and many different breweries to choose from.

The pizza was quite good. One of the better pizzas I've had in San Diego. And they have a gluten free option for those who are into that kind of thing. Prices were super reasonable. Definitely somewhere I'll be back.

I have been to Pizza Port several times. I have tried several of theirs own beers and all have been excellent. They have a great deal at lunch (pizza slice, salad, and beer). The food and atmosphere is a bit family oriented. Picnic tables, mildly spiced pizza and lots of lighting is better suited for kids than beer drinkers. I would stick to the beers and come later in the evening.

Walking along on on a warm (in comparison to WI) March day in Ocean Beach after checking out a few shops and a walk down the beach I spotted what looked like a mirage in the distance. After getting closer, to my surprise the Pizza Port standing infront of me was infact a reality. What a refreshing surprise.

We came into the brew pub around the lunch time hour thirsty from a morning of beach walking. There was a small line, but with so many beers to choose from it took me a while to make a decission anyway. I eventually went with the O.B. Have (a DIPA) and made it a lunch combo with a slice and a salad. The fare skined lass taking orders commented on my out of town ID and handed me a fresh aromatic pint that quenched my thirst.

The decore was that of a surfy beach vibe, very appropriate for the area. After finishing my tasty slice of pizza and commenting on the need for "a place like this where I come from" I walked up for a second pint and asked about merch. The same gal, provided me with some options for stickers and bottle oppeners and I went with the Norse Woman (another superfresh IPA).

Overall, I really enjoyed Pizza Port. If this was my local watering hole I wouldn't look to much farther for a tasty IPA.

Last stop of the afternoon. Typical Pizza Port feel with lots of tables all over the place, brewing system in the corner and a large kitchen in the back. Atmosphere was already pretty hopping with a good amount of people enjoying their pizza lunches. Service was great. She was very helpful in picking some beers for my sampler, offering some suggestions on what I should get. Quality was great like all of the other locations. Selection was a bit better than when we visited Carlsbad. Maybe not as many exciting beers on but I think they had a better verity of styles on to choose from. Plenty of guest taps as well if you are looking for something different. No food this time as we had just eaten at Stone. Prices were very reasonable, especially the lunch special they offer which was a killer deal. Overall a really awesome Pizza Port location, glad we made the trip over to check it out.

If you've been to one Pizza Port you've practically been to all of them. It's a very family friendly brew pub/pizza joint. This place isn't filled with your run of the mill stinky OB locals, which is very nice. Standing in line and ordering beer has never been a favorite past-time of mine, but it makes sense given the set up. You had better have your ID though, because they do not joke about that! You'll sit down family style and usually get to have a conversation with some pretty interesting folks. If you're in the mood for a pretty good pizza and very good beer this is definitely a place you should check out.

As soon as I walked I knew this was going to be worth my while. Rows of community tables and pretty busy for a Wednesday evening. Easy to read and understand menu and it was hard to decide on a pizza. The staff was very friendly and patient. On to the beer...the bartender was again very patient and easy to work with. He walked us through some samples and poured a variety before we picked a pitcher.

Great place. I wish I could have stomached more beer and pizza. I was just too full.

Overall this is my favorite location Pizza Port has. They have a large dining area that displays their brewery and is very open which is nice when you have little runts running around! This is our fail safe pizza place and is always on point with diverse beer selections. Service has been a bit slow a time or two but I cant complain too much, They are always busy and theres a reason why. Kid friendly is a huge plus!

One of my favorite places in Ocean Beach.

Came in just to try some beers. A lot of beers brewed right there and only on draft there. The staple pizza port beers were on the guest taplist.

Bartenders were very accomodating and gave me samples of just about anything I wanted to try. After a half pour of my choice the keg was empty and I got the half glass of beer for free. The bar tender was quick to give me more advice on stuff I might like.

The place was jumpin'around dinner time and it was very busy and a bit loud but it didn't seem disturbing. Kinda fits Ocean Beach and the whole vibe it has going on.

I went here more than once during my Ocean Beach visit and there was something new to drink every day.

I love this place!

This is one excellent place. Only visited once since it's pretty far from my home but would love to come back. Ocean Beach in SD has a very relaxing and bohemian vibe and I just love the atmosphere of this Pizza Port.
They made a lot of beers, just go look at their listing and they come up with new beers all the times. All the beers I had were good, so go with an empty stomach it's not easy to have 6-7 pints of their selections when go there, plus the guest beers.
Lots of parents bring their kids here, very noisy. A very rowdy place but nice people. Probably my favourite bar in SD aside Toronado.

OB Pizza Port rules!!!!
Their growler prices suck, yes, but thier beer is nice and hoppy. They also, like all pizza ports, have many guest beers on tap. Sometimes its very crowded but the amazing staff expidites it quickly and friendily. Peace Out.

My wife and I recently went to Pizza Port on our vacation to San Diego. It was our first official stop.

A = Nice overall atmosphere with beer hall, bench seating. We were there on a Saturday night and the place was packed. There were people circling tables to get a seat. Crowd was a mix of young, surfer crowd and families.

Q = Service was mixed. In regard to our food order, everyone was very friendly and the food was ready quickly. However, on the beer ordering side, I didn't not find the bartender helpful. There are probably about 20 taps, about half their beer and half rotating drafts, mostly local. I decided to try a sampler of their beers and asked for a few recommendations. I know what I like, but I also like to try local beers that are popular. I was told one beer wasn't more well known or popular than the others. Not really a big deal, I made my own choices, but she could have easily been more helpful.

S = Selection was great for me. I wanted to try some of their beers and some other locals and that is precisely what they had on tap. If you are looking for selection besides locals, then this will not be your best bet.

F = Food was good. We shared a Caesar salad, some of their beer buddies and a small pizza. Caesar salad was solid for a pizza place, it was nice to see some green in the romaine lettuce, instead of the seemingly only white pieces you get from people that use pre-packaged lettuce. Beer buddies are basically cheese bread and although delicious, taste like most of the cheese bread you've had. Pizza was good but, nothing you couldn't live without.

V = Good value. The food and sampler, pints were all reasonably priced.

Overall, a nice place to stop in San Diego. It's a good place to grab some quality pints and pizza and then walk over to the nearby beach or build up an appetite at the beach and walk over for a few you pints and some pizza.

Very cool open beachfront community atmosphere here. Came in during a slow weekday afternoon and had a couple of beers with the wife before wandering down to the beach to watch the sunset. Then wandered back over to the bar for more beers and pizza. The crowd steadily picked up as the after work folks started coming in and filling it up.

Beer selection was large and local. Lots of real small local beers represented on tap and it was nice to get to try some of San Diego's lesser known but still delicious beers. The pizza came out quickly and didn't disappoint. This was a fun and not really planned out stop during my beer trip. If you're in Ocean Beach, give it a try.

Pizza Port Ocean Beach (PPOB) was the first official stop during my recent trip to SDBW 2012. It is a medium sized venue, a single room containing several rows of communal tables where beer geek and family meet. It is light and airy with a slightly rustic decor to it. The small bar is to the left upon entry. There is a counter for ordering the delicious PPOB craft brews adjacent to counters where hungry patrons can order food - which I did not try given a giant enchilada lunch at the Cosmopolitan Hotel in Old Town San Diego (at which time I also quaffed a Ballast Point Yellowtail Ale.)

The beer is great; during my visit, the following were greatly enjoyed: Dandy IPA, Shark Bite, Tarantulas and ABLE stout. In fact, the Dandy cask blew and the attentive bartender gave it to me on the house. (Oh, if more kegs would blow!)

PPOB is the definitive beer bar: great quaffs, non-pretentious environment where everyone can enjoy themselves; plus, it is a block from the mighty Pacific.

It is also accesible to Bus 35 from Old Town. One down ...

My wife and I were recommended this location over the other Pizza Ports in San Diego. Cute place. Roomy inside with Oktoberfest-style seating. Walk up order windows--one for food only and the other for beer and food. The service, in true San Diego fashion, was friendly, helpful, patient, and accommodating. The young woman who helped me seemed like she really enjoyed her job and really loved their brews. The gentlemen using the PA to announce when orders were up made it fun. My wife and I sat outside on the sidewalk patio. It's a little tighter fit out there, but still, relatively roomy. Flights were available of all the Pizza Port brews--of which there are several on tap. The BBQ chicken pizza was amazing. The soft pretzel was described to me by my wife as, "not very good." How can you beat a place that offers a friendly atmosphere, an opportunity to sit in the sun (or shade), drink some magnificent beer, and have a great pizza? This would be an every Saturday afternoon place for me if I lived in this neighborhood.

Best visit of our SD area tour. Great food and great beer. Imperial Red was the highlight of the night for our group. Will make a point to go back every time
I go back to SD. Pizza was very good and bartenders
were very knowleable of beers that were available. Lots of families at this location?
Maybe it was the Monday night visit but it seemed to be very welcoming to kids. Reminds me very much of a pizza place I grew up with in northern
Minnesota called Zorbaz. Self serve counter for food and beer orders but nothing to complain about. Location is very close to anyone staying near Sea World.

Stopped here for dinner and beer after making sales calls on a recent trip to San Diego. Located a couple blocks from the beach on a somewhat quiet street with a mix of businesses and residential buildings. Parking is on the street only and seems like it could be difficult at times, but we were pretty lucky and found a spot about a block away. Pretty large inside with basically one wide open room - brewery and bar on the left, kitchen straight ahead and the bulk of the room lined with picnic tables to form kind of a beachy feeling beer hall environment, communal seating type place. Bar is small with about 6-8 seats and also a small rail type area with a few more seats available. A giant 60ish" tv is behind the bar, the whole time playing crazy 40' wave type surfing video. Good selection of beers with a mix of Port's own house made beers and a good selection of guest beers mostly representing other CA breweries and of generally high quality. Service was fast...seemed like there was quite a bit of staff while we were there (especially for the small group of customers at the time, but it was early, so maybe it gets busier later). Hardly any wait to get a beer. Bartender was knowledgable and helpful with suggestions and let us sample several beers to help us find something to our liking. Pizza is surprisingly? good...a deeper dish type pizza that is quite filling but complemented the beer nicely. Crowd was a mix - mostly younger, 20 something locals seemingly from the neighborhood, a couple of families with young kids...basically, I was the oldest person there, probably by a good 10yrs, but never felt out of place or uncomfortable. Great place for a casual, low key meal and a couple of beers. Another place I'd definitely come back to.

Stopped by during a recent trip to San Diego. I planned on visiting all of the locations but only made it to this one. It's located in a nicer section of OB, a few blocks away from the homeless, hippies and panhandlers.

The space is basically one large, spacious room with the bar and brewing to the left and the food counter straight ahead. Lots of picnic style tables fill up the rest of the room. There's also a small little arcade section in the rear right corner next to the restrooms. In addition, they have an outdoor patio that faces Bacon Street with seating for around 20 people. This is one of the best feature of this location. Being able to drink their beers while enjoying the beautiful SD weather is a definite plus.

The place wasn't very crowded when I was there so the service was pretty good. You have to order at the counter but I never waited more than a minute for beer. Also, if you order food they call your name over a PA system when it's ready. The bartender was friendly and patient while I looked up all of their beers and also answered all of my annoying questions.

I didn't order anything to eat but everything looked pretty good. Being from the east coast I'm kind of biased when it comes to pizza but this place seemed legit. I came for the beer and I was not disappointed. The selection was pretty impressive with a bunch of their beers and an excellent guest list. They had fourteen of their own beers on covering a wide range if styles. Honey ale, cream ale, heft, golden ale, pilsner, belgian golden strong, three different hoppy beers, three stouts and a scotch ale! Lots of really good guest beers including Bruery, Dupont, AleSmith, Avery, Pliny, Flying Dog and a few Belgian offerings. They even had an interesting cider and a dry hopped mead.

This place was one of my favorite stops on my trip and if I lived in the area I would probably hang out there at least once a week. Really cool vibe with lots of cool locals, families and beer nerds. The service is pretty good and the selection is stellar. I wish I was sitting on that patio right now sipping on a fresh IPA.
