Spiral Jetty India Pale Ale is the launching point in our series of hoppy IPA brews. Spiral Jetty IPA has an aggressive hop profile (five different hops used here with two in the dry hop) presenting citrus, floral, resinous or pine aromas and flavors typical of American hops and a nice pleasant, cleansing bitterness on the finish. The dominance of the hops helps to balance the complex malt flavors and the higher alcohol content.

From a bomber. Pours an amber color with tan head. Big grapefruit aroma. Medium body. Bright citrusy flavor with a light biscuit malt flavor. Nice, more of a classic IPA flavor profile.

Purchased from the dabc for $3.50
No bottling date
Poured at fridge temp into a tulip glass
Pours a caramel copper with a sandy tan head. 3.75
Myriad of citrus hops, nothing in particular jumping out though. Perhaps lemon as the strongest one. 3.75
Heavy malt, nearly a malt bomb. Citrus is there, in a citrus rind kinda way, bitterness outshining any fruitiness. 3.5
Light prickling carbo, sticky resin mouthcoating, lingering bitterness. 3.5
Overall it's a deeply bitter IPA that may check the boxes for some, and while nearly enjoyable for me felt kinda messy due to the heavy maltiness of it. Could be a byproduct of sitting for Lord knows how long at room temp at the dabc. 3.5

Bitter and astringent IPA, with some nice citrus lingering flavor. Light, hazy amber with creamy head. Light aroma of grapefruit, citrus, hops. Taste is mostly hops with faint malt backbone. Pretty good beer.

A silver bullet smooth Ale that finishes sweet, without being sweet? Impossible,....is what I used to think.

Taste like ass. More accurately,it tastes like burned American Chinese food. It's a good thing I am already drunk or I would have poured this shit on the lawn already.

[Original rating 2012-07-13] Bottle from the brewery store. Pours light copper with a thick off white head. Aroma is malty, faint citrus, flowers. Taste is hoppy with a very bitter finish. Not bad but not great.

Appearance: A slightly hazy deep amber with a finger of fluffy head that dissipates slowly leaving nice lacing.
Smell: Fruity hops with a bit of malt.
Taste: bitter, citrus with some cereal and flower.
Feel: Nicely carbonated, an easy drinking IPA.
Overall: At 6.6%, this IPA is nicely rounded. It's great to see a beer like this come out of Utah. I will seek this out again.
