Notes/Commercial Description:
Spiral Jetty India Pale Ale is the launching point in our series of hoppy IPA brews. Spiral Jetty IPA has an aggressive hop profile (five different hops used here with two in the dry hop) presenting citrus, floral, resinous or pine aromas and flavors typical of American hops and a nice pleasant, cleansing bitterness on the finish. The dominance of the hops helps to balance the complex malt flavors and the higher alcohol content.

Pours a murky orange with a foamy orange-white head that settles to a partial film on top of the beer. Foamy swaths of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of malt, earth, citrus fruit, and citrus zest aromas. Taste is much the same with malt and earthy citrus zest flavors on the finish. There is a mild amount of hop bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp and medium bodied mouthfeel. Overall, this is a pretty good beer with a citrus forward hop presence that comes through better in the taste.

Clear orange colored beer with a small white colored head. This fits the description of "IPA Orange."

Smells hoppy but not excessively so. Strong tea and citrus but not terribly aromatic.

Starts out dry with a toasted grain flavor. Mild malt and woodiness with a mild hop bite. Overall tasty but more pale ale than IPA.

Mouthfeel is good.

Overall a tasty beer but certainly not a hop bomb West coast IPA. Buy this expecting a pale ale flavor and you will be happy with it.

Cloudy amber with an average white head with minor lacing.
Smell is over ripe oranges.
Taste is a big blast of pine resin bitterness with a light amount of dehydrated pineapple.
Mouthfeel is moderate carbonation and a very dry bitter finish.
Overall for hopheads that love bitterness above all else.
Also lots of nasty looking stuff in the bottom and sides of the bottle after the pour..

Slightly hazy amber color with a thin thick head with medium retention and leaving laces.
Nice predominant aroma of tangerines, I am glad I had it fresh.
Very fruity. Tangerines also show up in its flavor with notes of resin, caramels, earth-pepper, pine and lime. All in similar quantities. Dry and bitter aftertaste.
Light to medium body with appropriate carbonation. 6.6% abv is well hidden.
I did like the profile of this IPA, although it has a milder bitterness. Good for a change from the usual grapefruit. Still very fruity, spicy, acidy and with a drinkability that could sell 3 liter giant bottles. Suggestion, have this fresh or leave it at the shelf.

Beer pours a pumkin/orange that is slightly hazy. Has a large off-white head with good retention and heavy lacing. Aroma consists of orange, lemon and a bit of floral hops. Can also get some bread/pale malts.

Taste starts with tangerine and musky orange, then moves the floral with bits of lemon and resin, finishing with pale and caramel malts. Tangerine, bread, and malt finish. Mouthfeel is on the light side with high carbonation, normally wouldn't like this in an IPA, but this one pulls it off. This may be the most refreshing IPA I've had.

Very pale. Citrus hop aroma with fresh baked bread aroma as well. Hops kick in first, fruity and bitter. Malts are neutral for the most part. Alcohol was noticeable at first, but I lost it after a couple of swigs. Off dry, bitter finish. A nice light bodied, thirst quenching IPA.

Appearance is beautiful. A nice, solid off-white head on a golden-red body.

Nose is sour and almost Belgian. Not a fan.

Flavor is clean and crisp, but the hop contribution is a bit muddled. Is it rich and piney? Fruity and citrusy. Just a sharp bite? None of these. I found it generally tasty, but hard to isolate and describe the flavors.

Mouthfeel is moderately stripping and tart. Slight acidity, even.

Overall, (if you ignore the sour nose), it's good. I like it well enough, but it is not singular enough for me to want to seek out more.
