On nitro tap at The Pint in West Lafayette, IN.
Reddish pour with a medium-sized, rocky head.
Smells earthy with some light, sharp nodes of citrus hops poking through. Not really strong or complex, but that might be because nitro tends to mute aromas (seriously, guys, can we stop it with the nitro pours for beers that aren't dry stouts?)
Tastes like it smells--a weakly flavored IPA with decent balance. Apparently the commercial description for this brew claims it has "excessive hops," which I think it grounds for a lawsuit. The hops would have maybe--maybe--seemed excessive in the mid-80s.
The lack of a hop explosion isn't a bad thing, of course. Often, it can be godsend. But you have to wonder exactly what Epic was going for with this IPA. It's drinkable, certainly, but I seriously doubt this is what they were intending to brew.

A: pours pretty cloudy, dirty yellow once settled. Obviously with nitro, significant sustaining head and a lot of lacing
S: kinda weak in this pour, kinda earthy and maybe slightly herbal
T: taste starts out a little full, but I think that of a lot of nitro pours. The beer seems to be tending towards a west coast in the sense it starts bitter (with little malt character), however the hops are far from overpowering. The taste is actually a little tropical to begin, papaya and maybe a little coconut against the herbs/dirt similar to the smell. The taste slowly transitions into a dryer finish, letting go of whatever fruit flavors I initially perceived.
M: obviously smooth from the nitro, but a flatter carbonation as is also typical to me. Decent dryness, flavors encompass the mouth.
O: need to re-review a non-nitro version. This seems like it could be a little more than a standard IPA, but I feel it's never going to really jump in rating much above average.

Pours a hazy dull orange hue. Nose expresses citrus, an herbal character and an earthiness. Taste follows nose with an earthy, medicinal and bitter finish. Mouthfeel is light-medium (but closer to medium) with a lively carbonation. Overall, a decent brew, but a bit too earthy and bitter.
