Notes/Commercial Description:
Hopulent IPA is a big beer with lots of complex malt flavor and excessive hops. This beer will have changes to the grain bill and seasonal hop changes. The character of Hopulent IPA is over the top, too much of everything—a real HOP HEADS DELIGHT!

Pours a hazy dull orange hue. Nose expresses citrus, an herbal character and an earthiness. Taste follows nose with an earthy, medicinal and bitter finish. Mouthfeel is light-medium (but closer to medium) with a lively carbonation. Overall, a decent brew, but a bit too earthy and bitter.

Release #81 (bottled 11/12/13 - special edition featuring lemondrop hops)

Appearance: Pours a cloudy amber color with a nice bubble show and a two inch head; decent retention and lacing

Smell: Sugarcake malts buttress the tropical fruit, lemon and grapefruit tones

Taste: Sugarcakes, up front, with the hops building through the middle, bringing tropical fruit (guava and pineapple) along with grapefruit and lemon tones; after the swallow, the sweetness dominates though the hops do their level best to keep up

Mouthfeel: Medium to full body with moderate carbonation

Overall: For a six month old DIPA, the hops have held up rather well but there still is more malty sweetness than I prefer

22oz bottle at 41F poured into a tulip. Label says it's release #81, 8.5% alc/vol, SLC#1266.

Pours pretty clear amber/golden with a smallish white head which fades slowly. Fair amount of fine active carbonation. Smell is mild and floral, grassy.

Taste is bitter, piney, slight grapefruit rind. Something slightly fruity.

Mouthfeel is dry, medium. Overall, it's a nice, solid beer.

A: Golden orange with fluffy nitro head. Lots of sticky lacing.

S: Caramel malts with some faint citrus notes. Tangerine and grapefruit.

T: Pine resin, and bitter hops. Light citrus with orange being most dominant. Breads.

M: Medium body with a nice creamy finish. I think more IPA's should be done on nitro for the mouthfeel alone.

O: Interesting brew. I was expecting a touch sweeter and more citrus.

Poured from the bottle a bright cloudy orange color with one finger of clumpy white head. Light lacing left behind.

Aroma of caramel malts and very light citrus notes.

Tasted of caramel malts and lighter orange and grapefruit notes. Had a bitter bite to it which lingered through the finish.

Medium bodied and slightly dry with a moderate carbonation.

More malt-driven than hoppy which wasn't expected from a name like Hopulent.
