Notes/Commercial Description:
Hopulent IPA is a big beer with lots of complex malt flavor and excessive hops. This beer will have changes to the grain bill and seasonal hop changes. The character of Hopulent IPA is over the top, too much of everything—a real HOP HEADS DELIGHT!

Release #59

Served in a Port City tulip.

A: Poured a beautiful, bright orange color, extremely murky (yah for unfiltered!) and about a finger or so frothy white head that had tremendous staying power.

S: Fresh, clean linen, along with some orange juice, Pixie Stick dust, and a good bit of melted lollipop.

T: Kinda boozy but not too bad, however, the flavor was a bit off. I would have preferred a bit more grapefruit burn and less raw bitterness.

M: The sweetness was kept in check and the bitterness was teetering on the verge of being offensive, but not quite. Lotsa lacing.

O: There wasn't much wrong with this, but overall it wasn't memorable.

Nice DIPA assertive and hitting a rich benchmark.

Presentation: 22 oz brown capped bottle. Label with a black photograph of hops framed by sectors in muted dark green with name of brew and branding: kind of busy and messy without nothing memorable... These bottles deserve a redesign. Side notes encourage to visit their website for further information. Notes release #27 and 8.6% Alc. by Vol. Served in a tulip glass.

A - Hazy deep amber pour, even lumpy in the second serving, with a good frothy head, moderate retention, fair surface memory and good lacing.

S - Citrus and resin profile on the nose with a caramel malty sense in the back.

T - Taste follows with a nice sense of grapefruit, resin bitterness, a tad too raw at times, and sweet touches of caramel malt.

M - Medium body and carbonation with an assertive bitterness flowing with a crude if nice boozy touch.

O - Nice DIPA with a good flow.

Notes: Nothing for the ages but rather tasty, hopulent indeed and glad to have received the recommendation for to try it out.

I picked this one up at 287 Discount Liquor on a recent trip to Fort Collins. Poured a hazy dark golden color with a loose ecru headl Aromas of earth, pine and biscuit. On the palate, this on is medium bodied and creamy, with earthiness and a little pine.

This pours out in a reddish copper color with floaties with a rocky head that leaves tons of lacing. It was packaged or bottled on 6/4/13 as it was batch #67. Go on the website to find out the date and malt/hops.

Pouring it out the bottle, I could already get punches of the aroma. The mosaic is killer on this. Mango, citrus, huge just dankness, floral. Almost that cat pee that hurts your nose, but in a good hoppy way. Lots of caramel sweetness as well. What an intriguing aroma. Not like many IPAs that I’ve smelled before.

The flvor however falls slightly flat. At first, nothing really jumps out at me. I get pine, a huge caramel sweetness. On the end, you get a good pine bitterness that lingers.

This has a really fantastic medium mouthfeel from the malt.

Personally, I sort of wanted to like this beer. My brother grabbed it from a recommendation from a store in LA. I’m glad it was super fresh at least. And hey, I definitely can’t get this beer in NY.

The most important thing is that the changing malt/hop bill is a brilliant idea. Cuisine has surely pushed towards that. Not only in California, but all over America and the world. You use the ingredients you have on hand and that are fresh and you make the best product you can. I love that philosophy.

In the end, despite the interesting aroma, the flavor falls a bit flat for me to really love this beer.

Hard to review appearance - I poured bomber into two glasses, one with a beautiful golden color and white head, and the other had flaky sendimented chunks and was hazy. Nose has a grassy/straw quality, earthy, hoppy, and some fruit notes. Herbal and hoppy on the palate, sharp citrus, and a long hoppy finish. Medium bodied, slow drinking, but not heavy.

Growler fromFreeBridge.

Slightly hazy copper body, topped by three fingers of creamy white dense foam.

Aroma is mild grapefruit with a slice of bread. Rather neutral all told.

Solid semi-sweet foundation. A bit of juicy fruit. Bitter snap that lingers long.

Smooth medium mouthfeel, almost feels nitro.

Ah..nothing really bad but all rather bland. Why does this brewery warrant so much Jersey shelf space?

A-Pours a really hazy golden amber color with a nice whiteish colored head. Head has good retention and leaves some nice lacing.

S- Nose is quite a bit of sweet malts, pine, grapefruit and floral hops. Pretty well balanced and not a hop bomb so far.

T- Quite a bit more hops come through in the taste than in the nose. A ton of grapefruit, followd by pine, and floral hops. A strong back bone of sweet mals also coming through.

M- A touch maybe on the fuller side of medium, a bit sticky and chewy. Carbonation seemed to right on.

O- First one I've had from this brewery. I thought this one was pretty nice and I could go back to this one with ease.

22oz bottle, Release # 10 brewed on November 11, 2010. Pours a hazy dark straw color with a medium creamy white head that retains fairly well and laces the glass.

The aroma is floral hops, lemoney citrus with a slight sour twang.

The flavor is sweet bready malts and floral hops with some citrus and a bit of an off note - leather? The finish is high in bitterness. The mouthfeel is medium to full bodied with low smooth carbonation.

Overall, an OK DIPA. The flavors and smell just didn't jive for me. It seemed to have some notes that I can't place that I just didn't care for.

A: cloudy/unfiltered orange marmalade body,
finger white head, divine lacing

S: slight peach/mango, pine, malt nose

T: mild peach/mango, grapefruit, pine, malt,
mild sticky/oily bitter finish

M: med body, light sticky/oily mouth

O: Fine gateway Double IPA, but for
most beer geeks, this will be a tad light and
mildly disappointing. Still a fine brew.

HINT: do NOT pour the last inch of beer
tons of unfiltered goodies, lol.

PRETTY GOOD, NOT MUST HAVE!

Pretty good DIPA. Pours a hazy orange color with a medium size white head. Good retention and lacing.

Aroma was pronounced pine hoppiness but I detected something that reminded em a bit of the dreaded Summit hops. (not a whole lot, but I am one of these people that get a nasty aroma and flavor from Summit hops).

Flavor was overall fairly good but once again there was a little aftertaste of Summit-like flavors.

Mouthfeel is rich and crisp. On the whole, not bad beer. I I never had the misfortune of drinking a Gubna, I probably would have liked it even more.

A very nice balanced IPA.
A bit of citrus meets sticky pine to the nose.
Flavor comes through similarly, with a bit of bready maltiness to balance it out, yey still hoppy overall.
Finish is clean with a piney meets sweet slick follow.
Mouthfeel was very much where I like an IPA, not chewy, but with a bit of heft.

All in all, a very nice IPA.
