Notes/Commercial Description:
Brainless Belgian-Style Golden Ale is has a rich and complex malt flavor balanced with a little bit of spicy noble hops and strong influences of fermentation esters from the Belgian yeast used. Various Belgian like Rock Candies, hops and grains are employed to express variations within the style. Deceivingly drinkable, some liken theses ales to Devil sneaking up on you, so consume responsibly.

I have been on an IPA kick lately and being in Utah you only get what the MAN will give you. I have found that IPA's are too bitter for me, that is why I am pleasantly surprised to find my new favorite beer, EPIC Brainless Belgian. I, like most of you, search the Utah Isles for decent alcohol content, which this beers falls into. Unlike most of the really bitter IPA'a, this has a rich, flavorful, content that will keep me coming back for more. Not bitter at all. LOVE!
Sorry that I am not as descriptive as some of you beer snobs. You do make me laugh though.

Recent bottle from New Jersey. Pours a deep yellow with only a thin head. Gives off yeast and boozy scent. Above average mouthfeel that contains taste of light peach, pepper, and a tad of bubble gum, but also it is bathed in alcohol. Drinkable as a sipper with a meal, but its somewhat of a beer cocktail.

Great looking beer with a strong yellow color and a big white head that remained for most of the beer. A nice belgian beer smell- floral and alcohol. Despite the smell, the taste alcohol was hidden well- and this could be considered a light tasting Belgian. Some nice hops, but not the complex flavor I was anticipating. Been drinking alot of high end Belgians lately, this was not one- but if you like light tasting beer with a bang- this is a good one for you.

Epic delivered one of the first notable beers I think I've had in a while. I'm still relatively new to Belgians in general, but I think this beer stood out. It poured a nice light golden color with a thick head. The aroma wasn't particularly intense to me, but the taste stood out. To my pallet, the golden ale brought a well-balanced flavor rich with citrus and spice. Mouthfeel was clean and crisp, despite being served relatively warm, and finished relatively clean. True, I took a nap about half way though due to the elevated ABV, but this was the first beer that separated itself for me in the last couple of weeks.

Also went great with a little jalepeno sausage.

A delicate bodied Belgium strong ale of delicious golden colour with a rich and delightful flower aroma tasting of vanilla, light candied caramel, spicy hops and stronger malt, with a completely clean after-taste. Deceivingly drinkable. This an exceptional beer by any measure.

(22oz bottle, Batch #17, 8.5% abv). Pours clear golden with white head. Active carbonation. Aroma of belgian yeast, green apple, spices, hard candy. Taste is sweet, with the rock candy and apple being prominent and a bit of hop bite that subsides as the sweet, yeasty malts resurface. Medium bodied with a slick, almost buttery, texture. Smooth finish that is almost cider-like. Solid offering from Epic!

Release #19.

A: A pale tangerine orange with a good clarity shows a misty rise of effervesce snaking its way upward in a methodical fashion. The head is slight, oatmeal in color with a short life span quickly becoming a patchy covering that offered little lace.

S: Spicy oranges, fresh wheat stalks with a fade of light field flowers. Dry orange peels come on the trail.

T: Yeasty, very spicy, again oranges, with a feisty bite along with a faint peppery nature. In the middle lies earthy green shrubbery, lemon straw and grapefruit. The finish finds dry wheat and oranges with perfumy wildflowers and a spicy bite of citrus. Very bready palate, assertive upfront and smoothes out in the finish. Upon warming the alcohol becomes much more evident as well a caramel orange candy sweetness with some toasted grains.

M: tingly at first, with a syrupy feel. Warming alcohol with a spicy bite of oranges and pepper being left behind on the tongue.

O: Overall nice flavor, spicy and bright with a soothering finish. Definitely worth a pick up. Very good.

22 ounce bottle, Release #17, 8.5% ABV (Epic's website says it was brewed on June 8, 2011). Served in a tulip glass, the beer pours a clear light gold color with an inch and a half frothy white head. The head retention is excellent, and there's also a good amount of lacing left behind on the glass. Aroma is sweet and spicy, the brew smells like candy sugar, cloves, pears, lemon peel and some green apples. It tastes like pears, peppery spice, candy sugar, cloves, and a bit of grassy hops in the finish. Mouthfeel/body is medium with decent carbonation. It's slick, smooth and goes down easy. Overall I think this is a good brew, not bad at all for $6.99 a bottle. I'm looking forward to trying the other Epic Brewing beers now!

Bottle: Poured a hazy bright golden color ale with a large foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of sweet malt with some peppery yeast notes is interesting. Taste is a mix between somewhat overly sweet malt with notes of peppery yeast. Body is about average with good carbonation and no apparent alcohol. Not bad but just a bit too sweet for the style and a bit more complexity in the ester would have been a good improvement.

Got this from Inflatablechair... Sam works for a beer distributor ... His boss is considering getting Epic's line in and wanted feedback... so.... here we go.

22 oz bottle says "Elevated Series Release #1"

Foamy eggshell white head... rocky and persistent .. descent lacing.. the brew is a hazy pale golden.

Nose is pretty impressive.... fruity esters and nice background phenols... pear... some bubblegum... a bit perfumy... some floral notes that I would guess are hops.

Esters and phenols reveal themselves more as clove and hints of banana ... still a fruity pear essence is there... maybe some honeydew... body seems a tad thick for the style.. but the carbonation is about perfect.

I love a good BSPA.. but the phenolic nature would get too me after a whole bomber.

4.5/4/4/3.5/4

Very well made... surprisingly so.. I'm happy with it for sure... Thanks Sammy!!
