bomber from release #3, 5.5% abv, was told at the brewery store that this recipe is roughly the same as the first two

a: deep brown in color, appearing black for the most part, sporting an average khaki head

s: great roasted malt profile, rich with chocolate and some lightly sweet toffee aromas, but restrained and balanced, glimpses of smoke, an earthy hop aroma

m: carbonation light-moderate, with the body hovering around medium, just a little oat-y creaminess

t: roasty chocolate malts form the bulk of the flavor, some malty sweetness underneath but quickly cleaning up, earthy hop flavor in a roasted finish, just the right degree of roast - somewhere between light and char, very tasty

d: drinks great, a really nice stout

Poured a deep cola color with a frothy beige colored head atop, not overly roast in the nose with good balance of sweet caramel.fruit, and coffee roast.A little sharp in the mouth and a little thinner than what I would have liked.Flavors are roasted with light bitter chocolate, and a little caramel-like sweetness in an ubrupt finish.Eh its starts out pretty good but seems to lack any depth or body in the finish in my opinion.

Dark robust stout nearly opaque with a ruby bright highlight infused with caramel khaki cream head, fine enloving lace. Aroma has cocoa notes coffee tones with a creamy milk chocolate influence. Beautiful beer in a crystal clear pint glass, wonderful culture in a glass...flavor continues with creamy dark chocolate dark coffee espresso notes, which turns into a hoppy bitter tones. Mouthfeel is medium bodied evenly carbonated full on body with dark milk chocolate notes. Comes off supremely enjoyable with a drinkable everyday chocolate note...god bless.

From the tap, the brew in my glass is about as close to black as it gets. Topping it is a light brown head that begins and remains tall and strong, leaving thick lacing in stryations.
The nose boasts a big, sweet roastiness. Charred woods, caramel, and notes of dark fruits are the big players with just a kiss or herbal hops to balance.
The roastiness goes the unfortunate route of ashy and too charred in the flavor. It doesn't stray terribly, but enough to mar an otherwise good beer. It does slightly lose a bit of the sweetness in the nose as well.
This one does have a boldness to it but comes out a little too thin for a stout, though it is vigorously creamy.

Release #6 according to the label. I wish that it also had a date.

Served cold into a snifter, 825 Stout is a very dark brown color with thick creamy white head. It settles slowly and leaves some lacing behind.

Aroma is sweet and roasty with that distinctive character that comes with an oatmeal stout. Hard to put my finger on but I enjoy it.

Flavor is smooth and robust. It has a great roasty coffee taste with smoke and char. Nicely balanced with sweetness like a milk stout but bitter like an American stout.

Mouthfeel has that great silky smooth character that comes with the oatmeal stout territory.

Overall a nicely done version of the style. Maybe not a stand out but nothing not to like. Can't wait to enjoy it with my breakfast-style dinner.

Thanks to Hoyt for splitting this bomber with me.

A - pours a dark black; thick, foamy, brownish head; good retention

S - faint coffee, faint roasted malts, a bit of smoke

T - roasted malt, faint caramel, cocoa, a bit of burnt sugar, faint hop bite in the finish

M - smooth, med bodied, a bit thin at times, little carbonation

This is in more a dry stout style. It's a little thinner and lighter than I had anticipated. The flavor profile was good, but this is probably not a beer I would seek out.

another gift from my latest trade with andrenaline
A - pitch black, tall mocha head retained very nicely, random lacing all over
S - roasty with hints of espresso with a surprising amount of graininess
T - roasty and cola flavours dominate up front, more mellow charcoal notes, some grain and light leafs
M - medium body with more carbonation than expected, somewhat chaulky, more of a porter feel
O - a decent enough stout bordering on the porter line, worth a try for sure

Pours a deep amber color with a brown center. Visible clarity with a light coffee head. Chocolate and charcoal on the nose. Bit of roasted malt. Not an incredibly pungent nose. Medium body with good carbonation. Slightly creamy with sweet chocolate up front rounded out by some charcoal astringency on the side of the mouth. Thins slightly on the swallow but finish clean and isn't overbearing. Not exactly my cup of tea but overall pretty decent effort.

The epic line of beers is proving to be friendly as an introduction to the craft beer bomber scene. Good flavors yet approachable at a good price.

22 oz. Brown/black pour, thin layer of off white head. Pretty standard.

Aroma, Roast malt and coffee. Nice chocolates.

Taste, More toasted malt, caramel and chocolate. Finishes with some coffee but fades pretty quickly. Taste is more porter like.

For me the impact that oats should have on the body don't show up in this one. A little thinner, but pretty easy to drink. With the lightness would prefer the abv to be more toward 5% than 6%.

Release #8.

A: Midnight black with a 1 finger high frothy head that showed a moderate rate of resilence. Small quick paced carbonation streams can be seen along the glass edge. Lacing is average.

S: Smoked pine wood, very low aromatic appeal and strength, some chocolate, cocoa and roasted nuts. Meh.

T: Chocolate, sweet and milky, lightly dry with some sweet creamer laced roasty coffee. Oats, herbal tea, pine, with a silky buttered caramel coffee finish.

M: Milky with a mid-range carbonation factor. Some astingent bitterness follows.

O: An elevated series stout that is more at home as a pub session style. 5.7%abv is very easy to handle, a polished flavor, light and silky drink makes for an easy experience.

22 ounce bottle, Release #15, Brewed on 1/19/2012, Packaged 2/2/2012, 5.6% ABV. Served in a nonic pint glass, the beer pours dark brown/black with an inch tan head. Head retention and lacing are both good. It smells like roasted malt, coffee, chocolate, dark fruit and some molasses. It tastes like roasted malt, bittersweet chocolate, coffee, caramel malt and molasses. It's a little more sweet than bitter tasting. Mouthfeel/body is medium, it's a bit slick and creamy, and is also well carbonated. I think it's a good stout overall. At just $4.99 a bottle, I'd buy it again. It's certainly worth a try at that price, although I'd like to try a fresher bottle next time.
