22 oz bottle which was a gift during the work Christmas lunch. Poured into my beer goblet. Served about 15 out of the fridge. Release 10, at 5.4 ABV, one of the lowest that Epic brews.
Appearance: A clear dark brown (when held up to the lamp) with a one finger creamy tan head. The lacing was very nice.
Smell: A nice coffee note comes from the glass along with dry bakers chocolate and roasted grains. I also pick up some soapy notes from the hops and a mild tartness from the yeast.
Taste: The tastes are not overwhelmingly intense on this beer. Sometimes I need to keep in mind that this is not a barrel aged imperial stout at 10 ABV. This is an excellent example of how to do a stout. All of the smells noted carry over into the taste. At first is a mild coffee with it's accompanying bitterness. Followed by the semisweet the chocolate.
Mouthfeel: Very smooth creamy mouthfeel on a lighter medium bodied beer. The carbonation is on the lower side.
Overall: For us jaded beer drinkers here, this may be a stout with training wheels. This may also be a prime example of a stout to introduce to someone which has not had a lot of stouts before. This could be used as a gateway into the realm of darker beers. A solid beer, recommended.

Clear brown colored ale with very slight head formation.
Smells of chocolate and coffee with vanilla and almond scent. Wheat toast with a little bit of burnt toast scent. Slight raw grain aroma.
Starts out dry and heavily roasted. Taste is mostly coffee reminds me of Italian Espresso soda. Essentially a coffee flavored beer.
Mouthfeel is average.
Overall it is OK, but I was expecting more.

Pours black with a mocha head. Aroma starts of roasty and chocolatey, a bit nutty too, then gradually introduces a little coffee and a kiss of hops to allow a touch of bitterness to the table. Flavor followed suit. Medium bodied, creamy mouthfeel. Overall, a nice solid American Stout. Aint gonna blow you away, but a nice tap offering that would be worthy of future purchases.
