A dark, full-bodied and drinkable beer, Galloway Porter highlights rich roasted chocolate and coffee-like malt flavors and aromas. It has a very mild hop addition so that the chocolate malt flavor can shine through.

Bomber picked up in Michigan and wish we'd gotten more, as this is a very easy drinking beer. Pours a dark chocolate colour with nice ruby tones and a respectable head, with lacing. Aroma of roasted dark and chocolate malts has a nicely sharp edge to it, portending the coffee and light hop bitterness of the finish. Mouthfeel is thin but clean and appropriate for the style. Flavour does not have the initial sweetness I expected and offers a nice malt body, with a hint of caramelization under the roasted chocolate notes. Enough astringency to be interesting, but still a pleasure to drink. Will buy again...

This beer is a pretty one. It's a very dark brown with hardly any give at the edges. A nice creamy head develops a little over one finger high and has some staying power, taking a good amount of time to recede to a thick foam. A good amount of lacing is left in patches on the glass.
The nose offers a malty bouquet, a nice roasted barley and chocolate malts aroma withcoffe underlying and a bit of citrus hops balance to it. It's excellently balanced and spot-on for style. This is what a porter (not a stout) should smell like.
The roasted malts are likewise heaviest in the flavor, clearly of at least the chocolate variety and imparting a good coffee flavor with it. Citrus hops shine brightly underneath while letting the malts reign. It's a 4.5 if only the flavor didn't taper off a bit as it warms.
The mouthfeel offers a great blending of smoothness and light crispness that meld rather than competing in a medium body with an appropriately light carbonation.

Very drinkable porter. Nothing extreme, just a good balance of malt and bitterness, though would have liked somewhat more of the latter. Black as night, with complementary dark brown bubbly head. Some licorice in the aroma. Slightly above average mouthfeel.

A - dark brownish black with a huge, brownish head that is dense and foamy with great retention

S - milky, creamy, bready

T - faint roasted malts, some faint chocolate, some mildly bitter hops in the finish

M - thin, light to medium bodied, lightly but well carbonated

This is an easy drinking porter with light flavor and thin mouthfeel. Ultimately, this is disappointing. I wish this was a bit more full-flavored and had a thicker mouthfeel. As it stands, this is a beer that I will ignore in the future.

22 oz. bottle poured into a tulip glass.

Appearance-Deep mahogany brown with garnet highlights and what appears to be decent clarity. Large khaki head has moderately high retention.

Aroma-Dry, toasted bread crusts with a sprinkle of bittersweet cocoa powder and a touch of roasted malt. Extremely aromatic and enticing. Upon closer inspection, there's a dab of caramel sweetness, and a whiff of green, earthy hops.

Flavor-Not exactly what I expected from the aroma-sweet milk chocolate up front transitions on the palate across the spectrum of roast flavors-toasty bread crusts, then roasted malt, and then a hint of dark espresso in the finish. Near the finish, light herbal/woodsy hops come into play and moderately low hop bitterness coupled with roast and brisk carbonation make for a crisp finish.

Mouthfeel-Medium body with very high, prickly carbonation. The overall feel is pretty good, but the carbonation is a bit high for the style. Giving a vigorous pour on this one to release some of the excess carbonation really helps to soften up the mouthfeel a bit.

A little brisk on the carbonation, but otherwise, not bad at all. A solid porter with great flavor and aroma-it's all too easy to put down an entire bomber (or two) of this. Yum.

A: Rich cola pour with reddish highlights upon exit from the bottle comes off coal black in the vessel. A spongy textured slight khaki head lasts but a minute or two before coming a thin skim coating. Lacing was kept to a bare minimum.

S: Rich semi-sweet chocolate roast, smooth fresh charred wood comes with a nice level of aromatic roast awareness.

T: The flavor holds a dark, sweet caramel roast backing, cocoa, buttery toast, marshmellow and a smudge of vanilla. Sweet and spicy bitterness comes on the finish. The flavor overall is very polished and everything flows smoothly together but is still very distinguishable by itself.

M: Good carbonation presence, medium body, buttery oily feel.

O: Overall a solid example, especially flavor wise which was very polished, smooth and easy to consume. Bomber worthy at a great price point makes this a very good recommend. While some people may rate more harsly expecting the next big thing, there is certainly nothing wrong with a very drinkable session porter, which is what this all about with a nice soothing complexity and flavor.

22oz bomber. Picked up in at Brewforia in Meridian, ID
A) Pours with a finger thick head. Tan, tight, creamy and sticky. Mahogany colored body.
S) Bready. Yeasty. Subtle notes of smoked and roasted grains.
T) Mild, smoky taste throughout. Hints of nuts. Just a touch of hops in the finish.
M) Creamy. Smooth. Full bodied. Slightly dry in the finish.
D) A decent porter. I'd have another.

22 provided by Inflatablechair.. Thanks Sam.

Pours with a descent tan head... okay retention and lacing... very deep verging on black brew....

Nose is pretty traditional ... lite roast and bits of cocoa... something in there that I associate with vanilla.. hints of nuttiness.

Flavor shows with more roastiness and a lite char... finishes pretty dry... lite dark fruitiness with alot of warmth.. smooth body and lite carbonation... very sessionable.

I tend to not drink alot of porters, but this is nice and I would certainly recommend it... very standard and nothing to complain about... well made.

Pours black with a big tan head. Average retention with good lacing.

Very roasty and chocolately aroma with a little earthy bitterness in the aroma. Nothing really stands out here.

Loads of chocolate and roast in the flavor profile. Seems a bit overattenuated as it finishes supremely dry, but the flavors are there.

Lighter bodied with slightly above medium carbonation. Still managed to be somewhat creamy despite the slightly lighter body.

Above average, but many betters exist. I like some of the flavors, but it's a bit too dry to drink much of and no flavors are really exceptional.

Poured into a pint glass.

4.0 A: Black color. Three fingers of pillowy beige head. Retention is a little better than average and a moderate amount of lacing is left.

2.0 S: Unfathomly dry. Bone fucking dry. Roastiness and a weird tangy twanginess. Needs a bit less attenuation. Like cocoa powder. Not a fan.

3.0 T: Roasty and grainy. Dry, but reasonably dry this time. Light cocoa powder again and a touch of caramel. Not great, but not horrid. Pretty much average.

4.0 M: Lighter medium body. Good moderate carbonation. Quite creamy for what it is. Good here.

3.0 D: Average, drinkable, worth a try but not a rebuy.

Clear very dark brown colored beer with a medium sized brown colored head. Unusually dak for a porter I can't really see light through this one.

Smells strongly of charred grain. Chocolate scent with with some smoke and wheat toast aromas. Slight scent of caramel.

Starts out mildly sweet with a taste of patent malt, slight coffee after taste. Gets sweeter as you drink it there is a strong chocolate taste. Overall this is mainly just mild and easy to drink.

Mouthfeel is good.

Overall this is just a nice regular Porter. Most brewers have a similar beer. It is just meant to be easy to drink and well liked by most. But this doesn't try to be World Class.

A good malty porter with a slight touch of hops. Hints of chocolate and coffee. Very similar to Samuel Smith's Taddy Porter. Very drinkable and smooth. Purchased in a 22 oz bottle and poured into a generic pint glass. Purchased at the Utah State Liquor Store for around $3.00 and some change. A fine example of Epic's craft.

22 ounce bottle thanks to Eric. Pours a dark brown color with a small off-white head. A nose of sweet chocolates, coffee lots of malts. The flavor is smooth and easy; milky chocolates, coffee, fresh roasted flavors. A nice easy-drinking porter. A good brew to have on hand in the cellar!
