Notes/Commercial Description:
A dark, full-bodied and drinkable beer, Galloway Porter highlights rich roasted chocolate and coffee-like malt flavors and aromas. It has a very mild hop addition so that the chocolate malt flavor can shine through.

22 ounce bottle into pint glass, no bottle dating. Pours slightly hazy dark reddish brown color with a nice 2 finger dense light khaki head with great retention that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Some decent spotty lacing on the glass. Aromas of chocolate, caramel, roasted malt, coffee, biscuit, citrus, and herbal hops. Some pretty standard porter aromas with decent strength and balance. Taste of chocolate, roasted malt, caramel, biscuit, herbal, coffee, and citrus. A decent amount of herbal bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of chocolate, coffee, roasted malt, biscuit, caramel, and citrus on the finish for a bit. Nice evenly balanced blend of roasted and hop flavors. Medium carbonation and body; with a fairly creamy mouthfeel. Very easy and smooth to drink; with almost no alcohol warming present on the finish. Overall this is a nice and straightforward porter. Nice balance of flavors and quite enjoyable.

22oz bomber. Picked up in at Brewforia in Meridian, ID
A) Pours with a finger thick head. Tan, tight, creamy and sticky. Mahogany colored body.
S) Bready. Yeasty. Subtle notes of smoked and roasted grains.
T) Mild, smoky taste throughout. Hints of nuts. Just a touch of hops in the finish.
M) Creamy. Smooth. Full bodied. Slightly dry in the finish.
D) A decent porter. I'd have another.

Appearance-
poured from a 22 oz bottle into a nonic pint glass.
Pours very dark brown, almost black with deep burgundy around the edges
Nice two finger beige head that takes its time dissapating leaving decent lacing on the way down. - Noticed sediment in beer after pouring remainder of bottle

Nose-
Roasted malts, coffee, and dark chocolate. There's also an ever so slight unpleasant smell in there that I can't quite put my finger on.

Taste-
Sweet dark fruits up front followed by some chocolate and more fruit. Simple but pleasing.

Mouthfeel-
Medium heavy mouthfeel with light carbonation. Just about right for my tastes.

Overall-
This is a pretty good porter. Pretty simple, drinkable and tasty. Reminds me of some English porters.Epic did a good job on this one I will definately drink this one again.

A - dark brownish black with a huge, brownish head that is dense and foamy with great retention

S - milky, creamy, bready

T - faint roasted malts, some faint chocolate, some mildly bitter hops in the finish

M - thin, light to medium bodied, lightly but well carbonated

This is an easy drinking porter with light flavor and thin mouthfeel. Ultimately, this is disappointing. I wish this was a bit more full-flavored and had a thicker mouthfeel. As it stands, this is a beer that I will ignore in the future.

Quite acceptable dark beer. Just a hint of an odd perfume or plastic. Nice big flavor, though, and good for a gulp.

Dark malt and some charred flavors. Barely a hint of sugar. More of the grainy barley flavor. I like the big foam and spritzy carbonation. Lacing up and down the glass and a big mouthful of suds. Just right to start the evening. Some bitter aftertaste to sharpen it up.

22 oz bottle from the Sugar House state liquor store.

Pours an almost opaque super dark crimson-brown with a foamy khaki head that settles to a partial film on top of the beer. Foamy swaths of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of dark roasted malt, cocoa, and slight vanilla aromas. Taste is much the same with cocoa and char flavors on the finish. There is a medium amount of roast bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp and medium bodied mouthfeel. Overall, this is a pretty good beer with a nice combination of cocoa and char qualities.

Pours black with a big tan head. Average retention with good lacing.

Very roasty and chocolately aroma with a little earthy bitterness in the aroma. Nothing really stands out here.

Loads of chocolate and roast in the flavor profile. Seems a bit overattenuated as it finishes supremely dry, but the flavors are there.

Lighter bodied with slightly above medium carbonation. Still managed to be somewhat creamy despite the slightly lighter body.

Above average, but many betters exist. I like some of the flavors, but it's a bit too dry to drink much of and no flavors are really exceptional.

I had to walk six city blocks to finally find a decent beer in Salt Lake City. This was a decent pour...a little too transparent. The lacing was average. Taste was...hmmm...yes, a porter but nothing outstanding. It felt like velvet stuck to velcro in my mouth...the carbonation was a bit intense. Taste was the most pleasant surprise. Chocolate, raisen, and cherimoya. I could tolerate three or four of these but nothing dazzling....unless you compare it to most offerings in Utah. The Mormons have ruined the state of beer here.

Picked this one up at a Utah state liquor store on the way to San Diego last month, as the price (less than 4 bucks a bomber) was right. Poured a dark brown color with a nice big light brown head. Aromas of chocolate, toffee and roasted malt. Medium bodied and slightly astringent, with flavors of chocolate, roasted malt and toffee.

Clear very dark brown colored beer with a medium sized brown colored head. Unusually dak for a porter I can't really see light through this one.

Smells strongly of charred grain. Chocolate scent with with some smoke and wheat toast aromas. Slight scent of caramel.

Starts out mildly sweet with a taste of patent malt, slight coffee after taste. Gets sweeter as you drink it there is a strong chocolate taste. Overall this is mainly just mild and easy to drink.

Mouthfeel is good.

Overall this is just a nice regular Porter. Most brewers have a similar beer. It is just meant to be easy to drink and well liked by most. But this doesn't try to be World Class.

Appears dark brown with a medium sized tan head.

It smells slightly of toffee, chocolate and coffee.

It tastes much like it smells. There is a nice toffee sweetness that is balanced with a nice roasted malt flavor. There are very mild hints of coffee and chocolate present. Pretty descent flavor: it is stereotypical porter.

It has medium carbonation.

The drinkability is good about average for they style. I made it through the bottle quite easily.

Overall a nice tasting porter though it is uninspired in my opinion. It's worth picking up though if you feel like a classic porter.

Picked up on a nice clearance rack. Happy to give it a shot. 22 oz. bomber split with my wife.

Pour is black & moderately foamy. Nose is rich, lovely chocolate & a dose of roast. Nothing wild but damn appealing.

Galloway Porter peaks with the nose & falls off quickly. Chocolate remains the dominant actor, & there's roast, but the hop strike really clashes with the roast. The hops are earthy, almost herbal, & I never drink tea with my Giradelli. Because that's weird. And then there's a lactose shot that adds to the confusion.

This is a beer that's having an identity crisis, & I'm not shrink. It's a mish-mash of different things that taste good apart, but the combo is off-putting. Decent enough, but based on the nose, this could have been a contenda.

off-white head

S - Very mild toasted malt, hint of cocoa

T - Light but okay to start; mild toasted malt and cocoa. However, there

is a bitter tinge in the finish

M - Mice thickness with okay coating. A lot of tingle on tongue and

throat

O - To mild for this to be picked over most other options
