Release # 16. 5.5% ABV per the label.

Pours a murky light orange with a foamy off-white head that settles to a small cap on top of the beer. Small swaths of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Tiny dots of sediment are seen floating around in the beer after the pour. Smell is of malt, wheat, honey, yeast, spice, and floral aromas. Taste is much the same with spice and peppery flavors on the finish. There is a mild amount of spice bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a pretty good beer with some nice spice and peppery flavors that make this one easy to drink.

a total summer beer this one, completely inappropriate this time of year, but a real tasty beer nonetheless. it has a real mellow corn color with a quickly receding white head, not much lacing. the aroma and taste here are identical, tons of tropical notes, grains of paradise, lemon or orange, and a hybrid belgian/german yeast as far as i can tell. doughy yet light like the german brand, and spicy and bright and chalky like particular belgian strains, well done on that front. i dont get much coriander, thank god. i like it, but its played out, and this one only dabbles. light feel, some residual sugars but still pretty clean, and not quite hopped enough to hit my sweet spot. a well made and summery brew, light in body and only a little herbal on the way down. complex enough without distracting me, a good session brew and you cannot beat the bomber price in denver right now. will keep this one around.

Poured into a Celebrator pokal. Pours a light straw yellow amber with hints of gold, with a quarter finger white head that dissipates to patches and a ring around the glass. Aroma of spicy coriander and pepper, citrus and wheat. Flavor follows with spicy lemon wheat with a coriander and lemon pepper finish. Light bodied with peppery carbonation. A light, but pleasant wit with an emphasis on citrus and spicing; classic wit characters are here, but this is even more refreshing and fun to drink. A bit on the light side and could use a little more wheat character, but enjoyable.

On draught at Bailey's, served in a small pils glass, Epic's Wit is cloudy straw yellow with a small white head that leaves foamy lace. Nice glow to it

Smell is spicy and fruity, a little grainy, and yeasty.

Taste is sweet, the citrus spices and esters play well, bringing a full flavor without being overbearing, although the aftertaste is a bit acrid. Nice slate-like minerality.

Mouthfeel is creamy, soft, light bodied, dry.

Drinkability is pretty good, a solid wit, but I could use a touch less spice and more esters.

22 ounce bottle into signature pint glass, release #10 bottled 5/31/2012. Pours lightly hazy golden straw color with a 1-2 finger fairly dense white head with good retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Spotty soapy lacing clings down the glass. Aromas of big lemon zest, orange zest, orange rind, coriander, clove, pepper, wheat, ginger, earth, floral, and light herbal. Damn nice aromas with good balance, strength, and complexity. Taste of big lemon zest, orange peel, coriander, ginger, clove, pepper, wheat, bread, floral, earth, grass, and herbal. Lingering notes of citrus, coriander, clove, pepper, ginger, wheat, grass, and herbal on the finish for a good bit. Fantastic flavor balance and complexity; with a great malt/spice balance; zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium-high carbonation and medium body; with a lightly creamy and very crisp and prickly mouthfeel that is very nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with hardly any warming noticed after the finish. Overall this is a highly excellent witbier! Great flavor balance and complexity; very smooth a crisp to drink. Highly enjoyable offering; exceeded my expectations.

22 oz. bottle (release #7) poured into a pint glass at Pizzeria 712 in Orem, UT.

What struck me most about Epic's Wit Beer was the earthy grass and hop aromas and flavors. While there was a lot of fruitiness and lemon citrus in the mouth, it couldn't quite balance the up front hop character. The stock description mentions grains of paradise, and while I didn't immediately pick up this flavor, I think this added to the earthy and slightly spicy notes.

It was a nice beer to enjoy on a 100° day, but was far from an extraordinary witbier. Still, one of the more interesting offerings I've had in Utah to date.

22 oz. bomber for $3.99 at Total Wine, so I had to pick it up,

A: Pours a cloudy goldenrod with a medium white head, soft sticky lace.

S: Fragrant orange and citrus peel, cream soda.

T: Sweet Belgian spice, white pepper, coriander, with a good orange peel balance. Definitely one of the most balanced wits I've had, full-flavoured, very nice.

M: Medium-bodied, crisp and juicy, very drinkable.

O: A fantastic wit from Epic. Very well made, to style and tasty. Almost as good a QPR as White Rascal which is impressive. Another reason why these guys are fast becoming my favourite new brewery.

Spritzy looking in the glass with a well-carbonated mouthfeel. Attractive cloudy pale golden color. A nice balance of sharp flavors with the maltiness. Very nice nose of bicsuity malt and some citrus hints. Wheat malt flavors. Compared to some Wits, this has more substance along with the rich mouthfeel. At the end, a little hoppy bitter edge along with the fruit. Refreshing.

Plenty drinkable, though less clear and crisp than some others. I like the yeastier flavor since the carbonation is so creamy. Release #5. Label lists ABV at 5.1%.
