Had this with friends for New Year's eve, from a bottle. Release #17
Poured into non-beer glasses but at about 55' to 60' it produced a nice lasting head. The aroma hits you with the coffee and chocolate and the taste followed true to what you smelled. I was impressed with how long you could continue enjoy the smell.
The taste was exactly what was advertised. I love big and bold flavors, coffee and chocolate is one of my favorite combos. This is a sipper because the taste does start to overwhelm the buds. You need to refresh your palette with food then you can continue to enjoy the beer. I would have rated this higher if the taste was more balanced and complex and not so overwhelming. It was more like a dessert milkshake, which is ok but why I loved the mouthfeel. It was luxurious, creamy and silky. I thought it fit the style and taste perfectly for what I like in a mouthfeel.
Overall I would look for this again, just to see if I love it as much and taste with my palette fresher. It was New Year's Eve after all. Everyone who tasted it thought it was outstanding, beer lovers and wine drinkers alike. Cheers!

Bottle pour at the Ithaca Luminous release.
Pours a thick, dark opaque black, with a mocha head of about one inches. Small little globs of lacing on the glass.
Smells include roasted malt, chocolate, and some vanilla.
The taste is similar. I think this is bourbon or whiskey barrel aged, but I'm not really picking that up. Lots of chocolate, vanilla, and some oakiness, molasses, Hershey's syrup, etc. Great taste, but a little subdued, I think. Still quite good.
Medium to full bodied, low carbonation, creamy, thick mouthfeel.
Another great stout today. This is turning out to be one of the best beer days I've ever had.
