Pours like motor oil and looks like it to. Inky black colored beer with a tiny brown colored head.
Smells strongly of coffee. Strong scent of fresh ground coffee bean. Bitter cocoa powder and mild whiskey. Still this is a monolithic coffee beer.
Starts out mildly sweet with a strong coffee flavor and a lesser whiskey flavor. Medium level of bitterness, this is certainly mild mannered. Good alcohol warmth in the chest and a slight sensation of alcohol in the mouth. Strong espresso taste. If you don't like coffee you would be nuts to buy this because it is all about the coffee. Vanilla and bitter chocolate but in the end it is a coffee beer and a quite strong one.
Mouthfeel is THICK.
Overall a good stout and an outstanding coffee beer.;
but if you don't like coffee you will hate this one.

Served on tap at the brewery in Denver. Pours a pitch black with viscous apperance and dark brown head. The nose is amazing, freshly brewed bold coffee is oozing with light notes of whiskey and roasted malts in the background. Vanilla and chocolate are also present. Taste matches the nose. Coffee up front, smooth notes of vanilla and chocolate with mild whiskey at the end. The barrel aged character is well integrated with the base beer. Mouthfeel is silky smooth with mild carbonation. Overall, this is an under the radar beer for sure. It can be found on shelves pretty easily, but the taste is right up there with many of the beers that never see the light of a shelf.

On tap at Mason Lounge. This is a humongous beer. The aroma is all coffee. As is the flavor in the mouth. A booziness combines with the roasted malt to create a delicious coffee cocktail. Coffee and sugar sweetness, shading into unsweetened cocoa territory on the finish. Full body.
I should revisit this another time when I'm less drunk. But tonight there's something not quite great about this, though. Should compare this to Lagunitas Capuccino Stout...
