Poured into a Due South Brewing Co. snifter. Label says Release #20.

A- Pours a fully opaque black color with a 1/2 inch brown head that retains a bit before becoming a thin ring around the edge of the glass and some bubbly surface foam. Non-resilient lacing leaves tiny specs behind.

S- Good shot of dark roast coffee plus some vanilla and chocolate. Hardly any alcohol fume or barrel presence.

T- Dark roast coffee is heavy on the palate. The barrel is detected a little now, as is the booze but the coffee smooths everything over so well. A slight lingering bitterness. Man, this is some drinkable stuff. Even after multiple sips, the heavy malt, coffee and alcohol never reaches a state of imbalance. Remarkable. Semi-sweet but, in comparison to other coffee beers, this one is very low on the sugary scale.

M- Slightly creamy, sticky and thick with medium-low carbonation and the fullest of bodies.

O- While I was struggling to find the barrel's influence in the flavor profile, everything worked together just about perfectly in this one.

Epic Brewing Big Bad Baptist

Poured from a 22 oz bottle into a CBS snifter. Served at cellar temperature.

A) Thick black brew with a dark tan head. Really nice retention and some spotty lacing too. This has some legs.

S) Heavy on the coffee... A fresh ground dark roast. This is all about coffee. Is this beer??? A little bit of dark chocolate, but mostly coffee. If you love coffee, you will love this aroma. I am a coffee lover...

T) Again, a whole lot of coffee in the flavor. The cocoa nibs are also noted. I don't get a whole lot of barrel aging presence in the flavor, perhaps a bit of wood. The alcohol is well hidden, and just slightly detected on the backend.

M) Near full bodied with lighter carbonation. This goes down nice a smooth. A good amount of coffee bitterness coats the palate. Light alcohol. Nice aftertaste....

O) A really well made beer right here. While Bourbon County Brand Coffee Stout is clearly the gold medal winner in this category, I'm of the opinion Big Bad Baptist likely makes the medal stand. Glad to recommend this beer...

A-Black in the glass, clear around the edges, one finger brown head that tries to leave some lacing.

S-Woah. Lots of great coffee. Some chocolate and roasted malt, more oak than whiskey. The coffee dominates and it is a good thing.

T-Again lots and lots of coffee. What wonderful coffee flavor. Then some roasted malt and chocolate. FInishes with oak and very slight whiskey, it could use longer aging I believe.

M-Medium bodied, slight carbonation, tad creamy.

O-One of the better coffee stout on the market. Could use some more whiskey flavor but still a knock out. Thank you Clif!

A: Pours a thick black, like motor oil, with a creamy brown head.

S: Dark coffee and espresso dominate the nose with a touch of dark bittersweet chocolate, vanilla and oak. The vanilla and oak come up after a few whiffs.

T: Dark roast coffee, espresso, vanilla, oak, dark chocolate. Coffee is the strongest flavor in the taste, but it's much more balanced than the nose.

M: Full bodied and creamy smooth. Nice balance between between sweet and bitter.

O: An excellent imperial stout, with great bourbon character.
