A: Dense oxidized orange shows no lighting through its body with a creamy oatmeal colored head sitting a finger high displaying a fair amount of resistance. A good show of carbonation bubbles lets us know its active inside, even with its dense nature, as effervesce rushes up the inner vessel walls. Strong lacing and a skim coverage through most of the drink rounds things out.

S: Fresh barley, nice light toastedness with some earthy fall leaves. Really has a fall type aroma and atomsphere to it.

T: The flavor is fresh and grainy, lightly toasted character and a light earthy noble fresh hopping follows, but it is the grain base that is the main feature here. Malty, lightly sweet and toasty, the flavor just beckons for more of it to be drunk.

M: Nice creaminess on the mouthful that sits full on the tongue. Fresh green noble hopping traces off the tongue with a good amount of carbonation backing. Nice toasted bread and nobel hop flavors linger behind after the swallow.

O: Overall an easy drinking fall style beer that isnt loaded with speciality grains, featuring a fresh graininess and small toasted sweetness to give it character along with a fresh noble hopping that is mug worthy in repeat form. Clean flavor, a bit heavier then most ocktoberfest styles, but is just as easy to kick back to.

Thanks to bmanning for sharing this bottle. Reviewed from notes.

Pours a moderate golden-amber color bordering on copper with a thin off-white head and not much in the way of a head or lacing. The nose brings some light bread and faint earth hops. A bit of toast. Light-medium body underneath plenty of bread and light hops. Decent, but pretty boring.

Split out of a 22oz Bomber.

Ok, found this one to just be average. Has an earthiness & bready beer taste. Tasted a bit too much like a non-fined house beer from any local brew pub. More watered down for my tastes and I am not a big beer drinker by any stretch. Certainly not terrible, but then again nothing special to put this one on your list.

I was expecting more here. I've had a few Epic beer and would recommmend the Crossover as my personal favorite.

Pours a dark golden orange with tangerine hues and a one finger off-white head that slowly settles into a thin lasting ring. Spotty lacing left behind. A little pale for the style but not bad looking.

Spicy, slightly earthy aroma with subtle hops balanced by sweet malts and autumnal spice. Soily pine notes countered by hints of cinnamon, brown sugar, caramel and biscuit.

Medium bodied with a decent hop presence which provides some slight dry bitterness that compliments the spic character. Hints of cinnamon, brown sugar and ginger followed by a sweet malt backbone. Decently balanced but kind of bland and not terribly flavorful.

Poured a seethru pale gold w/ no real lacing and minor head on top of earthy-toned, grassy hoppiness mixed w/ bready, dry malt and hint of sweetness. Clean and crisp, very dry malts and some citric sharpness as well. Unfortunately, very little in the sweetness department and not much balance. It is OK but wouldn't consider this anything special.

So this year's Fest Devious is an actual Marzen (unlike previous releases) brewed on 8/11/10 and packaged on 8/29/11.

Poured into a Founders pint glass.

A: Poured a crystal clear, fairly bright orange color, with a big, dense, foamy, mildly off-white head that stuck around for a good bit.

S: Typical sweet bread, German malt profile, that went for more classical malt rather than over-the-top spice. I appreciate that!

T: Grainy and earthy, this one is definitely middle-of-the-road and safe. Nice breadiness, and with a fair amount of peppery bitterness on the finish.

M: Splotchy lacing, tame sweetness, and smooth overall.

O: Note to Epic: scrap the "Exponential" status, sell this in sixers, and charge around $8.99 and locals will buy this by the truckload... guaranteed.

A - pours a cloudy golden orange with a small amount of head which quickly disappeared

S - toasted malts, caramel, honey, brown sugar, slight citrus

T - slightly bitter with a smokey aftertaste, sweet like caramel, the flavor is a bit all over the place sparking taste buds yet somehow feels perfectly balanced

M - light, crisp and refreshing with a dry finish

O - a very awesome beer.. gave some to my wife who is not too into craft beers (aside for fruit beers) and she gulped down an 8 oz glass! kind of a shame it's a seasonal - this could have been great for spring / summer time.
