Our first ever collaborative beer has all the familiar flavors of the season, but done with Epic style. To a base of strong, roasty, and chocolaty porter, we add 200 pounds of real pumpkin per batch, five spices and whole Madagascar vanilla beans. As you pour this deeply ruby brown beer, you’re greeted by the aroma of fresh cut squash, followed by rich chocolate. The flavor starts sweet with marshmallow, vanilla, and some pumpkin pie, then yields to a coffee roast and darkchocolate dryness. This beer is a great introduction for curious drinkers and a special holiday treat for fans of the style.

Release #9, poured into a snifter

A- pours an opaque dark brown color with a two-finger creamy and foamy light-tan head that retains nicely after the pour leaving some short-lasting lace behind

S- raw vegetal aromas of pumpkin/squash up front mix with robust porter notes with highlights of chocolate, charred/smoky malt, herbal/earthy hops. Cinnamon is most prominent of the pumpkin spice aromas with traces of nutmeg & allspice as well. Cinnamon & chocolaty porter aromas mix nicely

T- the base porter is nice and robust with notes of dark chocolate mixing with some smoky roasted malt, also a hint of coffee & some nutty notes. The raw vegetal flavor is more prominent than most pumpkin beers, with flavors of both raw pumpkin & squash. Cinnamon seems to stick out most, out of the spicing, with hints of nutmeg & allspice icing in as well. The finish is slightly sweet with more spicing and a vanilla cream linger

M- medium chewy body with moderate carbonation leads to a creamy mouthfeel and a silky smooth finish

O- a different take on a pumpkin ale that worked nicely with the robust porter. I'd like to see more pumpkin porters/stouts

Poured from a 22 oz bottle into a pub glass.
Appearance - surprisingly dark; in fact this is black with just a touch of blood orange at the bottom of the glass. A thin, mocha head leaves a sticky curtain of lace down the glass!
Smell - sweet malts, molasses and spice; very little pumpkin.
Taste - initial sip is sweet with a flavorful rush of butter, cream and spice! I detect far more cherry than pumpkin.
Feel - sweet, creamy and flavorful! Medium body that has excellent drinkability for the 8.4% ABV!
Overall - an unexpected surprise; this may be one I seek out each Fall!

Appearance - Pitch black. Thick foamy head which laces the glass.
Smell - smell of pumpkin spice comes strong, then the smells of coffee and a typical porter come in second.
Taste - porter with a hint of pumpkin, but a nice spice after taste. Taste very good
Mouthfeel- Smoothy, very creamy. I did get a flem in my throat after not sure if the beer caused it with the spices.
Overall - Great beer, very much a porter with a hint of pumpkin and spice. Not an overwhelming pumpkin flavor

Nice, solid porter. Needs to be a bit warm to enjoy the flavors. Coffee, smoked malt and a bit of squash and earthy flavors in the back.
