Release #1.

Bomber served cold into a pint glass.

Deep brown color with thick off white head. It settles slowly leaving thick spotty lacing.

Aroma is rich in malt but not as hoppy as expected. Still very nicely done for an American brown ale.

Flavor is beautifully balanced with caramel/toffee malts and mildly bitter earthy hops.

Mouthfeel is medium bodied and softly carbonated.

Overall a really enjoyable hop-forward brown ale.

Picked this up in NC, release#1

Pours a ruby tinged chestnut with 3 fingers of mocha colored head. Astounding lacing & good head retention

S: Brown bread, some toastyness & nuttyness

T: Brown bread, pineyness nutty & woody bitterness along with orange peel up front. Niice nuttyness to this as it warms, a touch of pecan & pecan shell along with more pine notes & slight citric hopyness, mostly orange peel. Finishes nutty, toasty, a little dry with piney & citrus hoppyness

MF: Medium bodied, fairly firm carbonation, super balance

A nice hoppy American Brown ale, another winner from Epic, very drinkable

Appearance: (4.5)

- This is a nice dark molasses brown brew, cloudy, can't really see through it in my imperial pint glass. Big fluffy tan head slowly settled to a thick layer of fluffy and foamy goodness all about. Big lace, and lasting head.

Smell: (4.0)

- Nice bready malts. Sweet caramel, molasses, light sugars, and a lot of yummy malts. Certainly a nice bitter grassy pine hop, like fresh cut grass.Slight roasted sugar aroma, like a toffee. Overall quite a nice and subdued aroma.

Taste: (4.5)

- This is one hell of a good tasting beer. Perfect balance with malts. Very bready, and only slightly sweet. Great roasted sugars, light toffee, pine and some citrus hops hiding in balance. This is just as solid as can be. Love it.

Mouth Feel: (4.0)

- Nice full body without any sticky syrupy feel from what would be an overly sweet beer. The yeast has done its work with this beer, and very well. It's a tad chalky overall, but well carbonated, and super smooth and lightly creamy.

Overall: (4.5)

- This is a beer that shows that somebody knows what they are doing. This is damn tasty, easy to drink, and is one I will certainly buy again if I can. Unfortunately it is a rare release I guess. Get it if you can. It's smoothness and balance will blow your mind.

Poured from the bottle into a nonic pint glass. Release #2.

Wonderful forming pinhead sized bubbles for the head on formation, very uniform and a nice light off white whispy cream brown, and settles to three fingers. Body is classic dark walnut brown, with a little bit of clarity looking upward. Beer clumps heavily, with lots of islands and valleys, hanging lacing and all. This beer looks real inviting and delicious. Top ups make the head almost nitro in character.. heck with this I gave it 4.5 it gets 5 now.

Nose is a wonderful milk chocolate, nice great toasty aroma of whole wheat bread, maybe even feeling like a little spicy rye bread, it smells great. Not a particular sense of hop coming though but who cares.

First palate riches with a faint sour but luckily never returns, then rolls to a sugar malt, hinting at light brown sugar. Texture is quite velvety and rich and silky. A real nice controlled mellow citrus hop on this, grapefruit just barely peaking out but noticeable, however the malt gets into almost classic char and porter roast territory, but dials down enough to stay like a brown. Toasty, charring, grapefruit hop juice, dialed brown goodness, really balanced.

Overall this is a very impressive brew here, I love the mix and balance here it's just practically perfect.

Picked up tonight at Bier Thirty for $6.50ish... poured into my small Cigar City snifter... creamy looking tannish head atop a clear walnut brown.... nice lacing and retention.

Wow... the nose is pretty damn hoppy... citrus and pine elements play well with a fair amount of crisp brown toast.... light cocoa/roast shows with warmth... a bit of EtOH too.. alcohol is evident.

Flavor mirrors the nose with a pronounced caramel element.... a surprising roasty component that never outweighs the other flavors.. lingering pithy citrus hoppiness.... the sweetness seems magnified by a surprisingly thick body for a beer with this low of an ABV... still finishes sorta dry and lingering.

Nice brew.... Don't know if I will buy another... but certainly respectable.

Poured into a Seattle Beer Week pint glass. Pours a very dark, chestnut brown, appearing nearly opaque in the glass. Fine two finger light brown head with great retention and chunky lacing. Aroma of light caramel and toasted malt and fresh piney hops. Flavor starts with fresh piney and floral hops with mild toasted malt developing to back up the hops. Finishes with distinctly floral hops and a fruit flavor probably most similar to melons and moderate hop bitterness. Medium bodied with light creaminess. A rather distincly flavored brown ale that leans towards light fruit and floral herbal hops. Quite enjoyable.

A: The beer is very hazy brown in color. It poured with a quarter finger high off white head that died down, leaving a thin layer of bubbles covering the surface, a collar around the edge and some lacing down the sides of the glass.
S: Light to moderate aromas of brown and nutty malts are present in the nose.
T: The taste is similar to the smell, except that it also has flavors of roasted malts and a light amount of bitterness.
M: It feels nearly medium-bodied on the palate and has a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This beer is rather easy to drink and seems to be a little happier compared to other beers in the style.
