Poured from 22oz bomber into a tulip. Bottle says 7.6% ABV rather than the above-noted 7.5%.

Appearance: medium golden hue with a light haze and not much in the way of visible effervescence. The head, though, is two thick fingers of tenacious, pillowy ivory foam. Quite attractive!

Smell: very sweet, fruity and floral aroma with a nice level of sage in the mix; it's discernible but not overpowering. There's a bit of a chalky character to it that I like as well. Really, it's a very nice composition, but some may find it too sweet; I kind of like the sweetness here, myself.

Taste: sweet, but not as sweet as the aroma; the grassy farmhouse funk plays very well with the sage. It's an oddball brew, but one that I find myself really enjoying.

Mouthfeel: medium body with a good, well-integrated carbonation and a concomitantly satisfying creaminess.

Overall: perhaps not an everyday beer, but I am finding this quite enjoyable.

absolutely sensational herbal brew here from epic, a seeming combination of saison yeast and belgian ale yeast, its got a nice hazy golden color and some body to it, as well as an inch or so of slowly rising and slowly falling white head. the nose is great, fresh white sage in here, strong but not like an over herbed sage butter, its uncooked, raw, fresh, wild. its more the wild sage than the culinary sage from the grocery store, in so far as the palate can distinguish the two. some color and sweetness to the wheat malt here, but the yeast cleans it up beautifully, and the sage is felt on the middle of the tongue and it expands from there though the finish. i am really glad epic made this again, and look forward to some cool culinary applications for this brew. well carbonated and not as light as some saisons. this really works. i like it head and shoulders above cellar door from stillwater, which is the only other sage saison ive had. this is much cleaner and brighter and the sage comes through much nicer. a real success here.

Chill hazed golden colored beer with a small white colored head.

Smells Highly hopped with a strong bitter citrus aroma. Minty sage over the bitter citrus scent and that is about it.

Starts off fairly bitter with a bitter citrus flavor. Sage is in here as a minty flavor. Doesn't taste much like the sage from your kitchen. Bitter oranges and mint are all I get from this.

Mouthfeel is good.

Overall, I don't need to drink this again. I REALLY wanted to like this but it is just simply bitter with no redeeming qualities at all.

Release #3, brewed 1/30/12 bottled 3/30/12
Poured into wine glass from bomber.

A - Hazy gold/orange color with a half inch head that dissipates quickly to a thin fine head
S- Yeasty earth with a bit of rosemary. Slightly floral no sign of the sage to me.
T - Slightly sweet and funky with the rosemary hitting first and then the soapy sage hitting the back.
M - Medium body with good constant carbonation. Nice and dry.

Overall a beer that I would drink again, curious to try other batches that are more fresh.

Picked this one up on Small Business Saturday from the brewery. This is release 11 and was bottled Nov 12, 2013, So I am having it less than 3 weeks in the bottle. Good Deal! All breweries need to put this info on their websites, it can't be too hard to do. Bell's does this also.

Appearance: A slightly hazy light golden beer with a thin film of foam. No problems

Smell: Some nice herbs and spices picked up in the smell. A distinct, but not overpowering sage and floral aroma. I also get rosemary and the website confirms it. Awesome smell, reminds me of a spring garden.

Taste: The beer starts with a spicy note. I am not sure if this is from the yeast or the sage added or if the two just really work well together. A touch of floral hoppy bitterness keeps what little sweetness there is in check. A balanced, but not weak, mix of flavors.

Mouthfeel: Fine prickly carbonation lift the already lighter beer a little higher. There is a bit of slickness as well.

Overall: I really like this beer. Give this one a try for a nice recasting of a traditional saison. I really enjoyed it.

Slightly hazy golden amber brew poured in the big tulip. Very pleasant sparkling mouthfeel. Not a big foam in the glass, but still some head at the nicely sudsy last pour. No sediment.

Really tangy and a little sweet. Lots of yeasty, typical Saison flavors. The sage seems to add some bitterness but is not overly strong with herbal taste. It makes me think of the wild sage so common in these parts, but rosemary can be kind of bitter also. Sharp finish with some distinct sage aromas.

From the 22 oz bottle poured at the Annex by Epic Brewing in Salt Lake (Sugar House).
