[Suggested Glassware: Tulip Glass]
The pour was a hazy pinkish ruby red with a slight orange hue and a small (less that 1 finger) white sudsy head that diminished very quickly, down to a thin puddled film with a medium collar and possessed fair streaky lacing.
The aroma was of a mild biscuit malt and a strong funky Belgian yeast with hints of overripe raspberries, bubblegum, candi sugar and a mild sourness.
The taste was a tad sweet and decently malty with a note of raspberries from the get go, although it was far from being overpowering. As it progressed it became lightly tart and somewhat yeasty and had a mild alcohol tinge towards the finish. The flavor stuck around for an average time following the swallow, with a lightly tart fruity taste and a mild alcohol warming sensation that lingered for a short while.
Mouthfeel was just barely past light in body with a mildly dry texture and a ticklish carbonation.
Overall this was a lightly malty sweet and refreshing fruity Belgian Ale that was balanced very well by the moderate presence of the Belgian yeast, which helped immensely in hiding the high ABV and creating a smooth and easy drinking experience...

Thanks to jtd1969 for sharing this bottle with me
A - pinkish amber with a thin, white head that has good retention
S - faint malt and tart raspberries
T - same as the nose; the raspberries are well balanced
M - medium bodied, well carbonated
I would have liked this one to be a bit more full-flavored. It was a nice touch with the raspberries but it was a bit light. Overall, a nice fruit beer.

22 oz bottle poured into an Epic tulip.
9.2% ABV, Release #9
A - Ruby-hued amber in color, Brainless Raspberries has some nice clarity and a ring of tight foam that's left hanging out below a halo of dotted lace.
S - Brainless Raspberries smells like a bushel of ripe, crushed raspberries with Champagne-like white grapes and a delicate Belgian spice and citrus one-two combo of lemongrass and sweet orange peel!
T - Raspberries explode onto the tongue with fresh fruit flavor only to be swept away by Belgian yeast in the form of a saison with a conglomerate of spice and trailing citrus nuances.
M - A perfectly matched level of effervescence dances on the tongue, livening up the fairly light bodied beer with a complimentary dry finish. Despite the fruit, citrus, and spice notes all coming together wonderfully, the beer still finishes clean and devoid of any alcohol presence.
O - Epic's Brainless Raspberries is one of the best raspberry beers out there, marrying a high octane-yet-delicate Belgian saison-type of beer with fresh fruitiness and sparkling effervescent for a superb beer sure to leave a lasting impression!

Batch #2... Paid about $8 at the COOP... Poured into my slim tulip. Pours a clear orangy/pink... the head has a pink tinge... the bubbles die back very very quickly.
Nose smells like raspberry candy with some background Belgian phenols.
Flavor is thankfully more dry and shows more clovey phenols... sorta a light peppery element... plenty of berry flavor.
Body is medium with decent carbonation... certainly does not feel or taste like nearly 10%...

Appearance-Almost purple out of the bottle with a vivid white foam.
Smell-Like raspberries in candy form. Almost medicinal.
Taste-First time I tasted it I thought it tasted like a raspberry Tootsie Pop. Something that would work for dessert. Second time I tasted it all I got was the medicine flavor and tongue coating.
Mouthfeel-Light with a finish that somewhat drops off and coats the mouth. Yikes.
Overall-Way too much medicine. The other fruit beers really benefit from the oaking to tone down the overwhelming flavors of the fruit. Hopefully next year they will do that for the Brainless Raspberries and help it out a lot.
