22 oz bottle poured into an Epic tulip.
9.2% ABV, Release #9

A - Ruby-hued amber in color, Brainless Raspberries has some nice clarity and a ring of tight foam that's left hanging out below a halo of dotted lace.

S - Brainless Raspberries smells like a bushel of ripe, crushed raspberries with Champagne-like white grapes and a delicate Belgian spice and citrus one-two combo of lemongrass and sweet orange peel!

T - Raspberries explode onto the tongue with fresh fruit flavor only to be swept away by Belgian yeast in the form of a saison with a conglomerate of spice and trailing citrus nuances.

M - A perfectly matched level of effervescence dances on the tongue, livening up the fairly light bodied beer with a complimentary dry finish. Despite the fruit, citrus, and spice notes all coming together wonderfully, the beer still finishes clean and devoid of any alcohol presence.

O - Epic's Brainless Raspberries is one of the best raspberry beers out there, marrying a high octane-yet-delicate Belgian saison-type of beer with fresh fruitiness and sparkling effervescent for a superb beer sure to leave a lasting impression!

Picked up the release 3 of this for 8.99 at Vintage Estate. 9.6% ABV

A - Pours a rather hazy purple red color with a surprising amount of head (1/2 inch) It also sports great lacing and doesn't fizz out like a soda. Good so far.
S - Another great quality it smells like actual raspberries not as tart smelling as I expected but not medicinal either.
T - Slightly medicinal raspberry puree taste, nowhere near as tart as I expected. Slight woody flavor and the base of the Belgium pale also shines with some spicy yeasts and a touch of herbal hops.
M - Well for a fruit beer it's expected to be light and it is. It does however hide the massive ABV pretty well and doesn't burn like a wine cooler.

Overall this has kind of impeded my want of getting the other "Brainless" offerings. Very lackluster fruit flavors layered over a very basic representation of the style. Nowhere worth 9 dollars a bomber and I could even imagine paying 12+ dollars for cherry or peaches...

Pass if you can unless on clearance for 5 bucks.

Clear reddish brown colored ale with a small pinkish white colored head.

Smells sweet like syrup with a medium level of raspberry in it. Little bit of vanilla and caramel to the scent. Not super complex.

Starts out mildly sweet with a slight tart edge and a lite level of bitterness. Tastes mildly spicy and a little woody. Very lightly flavored.

Mouthfeel is light.

Overall an OK beer, but seriously light in every way.

22oz bottle from Khourey's (Las Vegas, NV). 8.99. Release #5, bottled 5/8/13. Served in a Clown Shoes snifter.

Pours an opaque peach tea with about one finger of thin white head. Froth receds pretty quickly to a thin halo that laces well.

Smells funky and fruity. Raspberry, clove, yeast and faint honey.

Taste is, as expected, full on Belgian strong pale ale with raspberry. Bubble gum, clove, slightly tart raspberries, funky yeast, a bizarre vegetal puree, spice, a touch of honey and a pretty strong booze presence.

Medium light bodied with sharp carbonation. Funky raspberry, yeast and cloves linger in the aftertaste.

Not a bad brew but lacking in anything to really elevate it above the myriad other available offerings. It's a decent enough one time experience that I don't lament the purchase.

A ; pours a soft peach pink color witha cm of soft pink hued head, weak retention, little lacing.

S - raspberries, bubble gum, clovey yeast.

T - not sour or tart at all. Too bad. Basically tastes like a light Belgian golden ale (clove, spice, bubblegum yeasty) with hints of raspberry sweetness. More raspberry and sour qualities would do wonders.

M - light bodied but somewhat thick on the tongue, plentiful carbonation. Pretty ideal here imo

O - raspberry flavored Belgian with raspberry sweetness. I guess it is what it says it is but wish it was so much more
