Foggy, pink-orange brew with light pink tinted foamy head with nice retention and lacing.

An obvious Belgian base. Banana, clove, spice....smothered in tart raspberry. Doesn't quite know where it wants to go, or what it wants to be.

Dry, airy, bitter-tartness, Raspberry is well done and subtle, not overpowering. Fruit is a nice add since the raspberry is so noticeable. Belgian base beer is less noticeable when drank rather then smelled. Slightly harsh carbonation. Sharp booze bite, needs to flatten off.

I'd like to see what this brew would do with a bit of age on it. I think a year or two would do wonders... I'll report back. Nice work Epic, keep em' coming. One of the better in the Brainless series.

22 ounce bottle into tulip glass; Batch 2 bottled 3/20/2013. Pours fairly hazy reddish orange color with a 1-2 finger fairly dense off white head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Spotty soapy lacing clings around the glass. Aromas of tart raspberry, raspberry skin, pear, apple, clove, pepper, floral, candi sugar, bread, light bubblegum, and yeast earthiness. Very nice aromas with prominent raspberry presence and good balance of yeast notes; with good strength. Taste of raspberry, pear, apple, clove, pepper, candi sugar, light bubblegum, bread, floral, and yeast earthiness. Slight earthy fruit tartness on the finish; with lingering notes of raspberry, pear, apple, light bubblegum, clove, pepper, candi sugar, floral, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice balance and complexity of raspberry and yeast notes; with a nice yeast/malt flavor balance and zero cloying sweetness after the finish. Medium-high carbonation and medium bodied; with a crisp, smooth, and lightly syrupy mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a small warming noticed after the finish. Overall this is a very nice fruited Belgian golden ale. All around nice balance of fruit with fruity/spicy yeast and malt flavors; and very smooth and crisp to sip on. A very enjoyable offering.

Appearance-Almost purple out of the bottle with a vivid white foam.

Smell-Like raspberries in candy form. Almost medicinal.

Taste-First time I tasted it I thought it tasted like a raspberry Tootsie Pop. Something that would work for dessert. Second time I tasted it all I got was the medicine flavor and tongue coating.

Mouthfeel-Light with a finish that somewhat drops off and coats the mouth. Yikes.

Overall-Way too much medicine. The other fruit beers really benefit from the oaking to tone down the overwhelming flavors of the fruit. Hopefully next year they will do that for the Brainless Raspberries and help it out a lot.
