Dark and hazy rusty orange. The beer had no head to speak of not did it show any signs of carbonation.

It has a fantastic aroma of pumpkin pie. Pumpkin spice, nutmeg, cinnamon. It has a sweet smell that I envision as whipped cream, capturing this wonderful dessert in all it's glory.

...then it comes up short in the flavor and mouthfeel. It actually has good flavor with a nice combination of sugar and spice but the body is thin, it's flat, and doesn't hold the flavor together.

If they could beef up the body and and give it a sticky mouthfeel with just a roux of carbonation it would be really good pumpkin ale. (621 characters)

On tap at the Ferguson Brewhouse.

A: Served a hazy Copper color with a nice head that fades to good lacing.

S: Aroma of nutmeg, spice, malt sweetness and a trace of pumpkin.

T: Taste of nutmeg, spices, some pumpkin and a bit of malt sweetness. Has a slightly spicy finish.

F: Fairly Medium body, smooth with good balance.

O: Nice pumpkin ale, enjoyable for one or maybe two at the most. May I have another slice? (417 characters)

Pours a hazy, copper/orange color. 1/2 inch head of an off-white color. Great retention and great lacing. Smells of strong cinnamon, nutmeg, all spice, sweet malt, and a hint of pumpkin. Fits the style of a pumpkin ale. Mouth feel is smooth and clean, with an average carbonation level. Tastes of strong spices, hint of pumpkin, and a hint of sweet malt. Overall, much more spice-dominant, than pumpkin, but still a good pumpkin ale. (433 characters)

Served this pumpkin ale on tap at the brewery. Served in a pint glass this ale poured a hazy orangish light brown color. Produced a thin tan head poor retention. The aroma is comprised of pumpkin and spicy nutmeg and cinnamon. This ale is light in body very watery for my liking. I remember I enjoyed last years version more. Some hints of cinnamon nutmeg and vanilla. Way to watered down low carbonation....just not a very good beer. (434 characters)

Enjoyed on-tap @ the iTap House in Soulard (St. Louis), MO for $5. Tapped from the Wooden Tap Handle into a Standard 16oz Pint Glass and ordered just because of the Pumpkin Ale season coming up!

Aroma- Has a awesome nutmeg and high cinnamon aroma with a just enjoyed but still left over pumpkin pie smell. Very natural and not artificial in any way!

Appearance- Received with a 1 finger head that dies quickly. Has a dark golden body with good clarity. Huge lacing stays on the glass and this was shocking.

Flavor- Almost is a tease from the beginning. Starts strong with malts and a bit of spice but then falls short of the mark. This brew has no bitterness and has only the spice taste at the beginning and doesn't continue on. Not much pumpkin taste at all.

Mouthfeel- Light-Medium Bodied, Medium Carbonation, Watery, and then thats it... Doesn't do anything at the finish with any kind of spice/pumpkin mouthfeel.

Overall Impression- From the starting of the smell, it seemed as if it was going to give Schlafly a run for their money! Not the case though... Has a good starting in the drink but then falls short of being a big Pumpkin Ale. I would say this could be a very refreshing beer for some but just doesn't have enough flavor or body to it. I like where Ferguson is going but sometimes their brews are a bit on the weak side. Hope to give a try again later in the season and see if anything changes. (1,420 characters)
