I had this on tap at the newly opened Ballydoyle's Irish Pub in Bloomingdale, IL. I never saw anything by this brewery before so I was doubly surprised to not only find it on the menu but to then discover it was from a local brewery right here in Chicago.
Served in it's own Pegasus pint glass.
The beer poured a clear reddish brown color with a 1½ finger creamy beige head. Lots of spider webbed lacing clung to the glass as I drank it. Not a bad look.
The smell was all hops - both floral and citrus.
While the hops did dominate the flavor, there was also a significant amount of caramely sweet malt in here to cut down on the grapefruit and piny hop bitterness.
Smooth, almost creamy mouthfeel. Medium bodied with only moderate carbonation.
High drinkability. No alcohol taste at all. I liked it so much I ordered another one.
Serving type: on-tap
