Notes & Commercial Description:
Beer added by: emerge077 on 05-25-2010

A prominent to intense hop aroma with a citrusy, floral and/or fruity character derived from American hops. Color ranges from medium gold to medium reddish copper. Medium-high to very high hop bitterness, although the malt backbone will support the strong hop character and provide the best balance. A decidedly hoppy and bitter, moderately strong india pale ale.

I heard that there was a new brewery on the south side of chicago in a hell neighborhood. Found this label at a big chain liquor store and bought a sixer. After a long day at work, I cracked one open and was wildly suprised. The head on this beer was thick and meaty. The aroma was great, and the taste was shockingly great. Definitely a winner.

Picked up on the sale rack for .50 cents at the local ABC Date on the bottle looked like 13.14.2013?

Poured a muddy brown, with a large amount of suspended debris. Looked like polluted river water. The head was surprisingly healthy with good retention and lacing. The smell was non encouraging, it did not ask me to take a drink. After three sips it went down the drain.

Appearance
Dark brown, slight lacing, small head
Smell
Strong malt and hop present, toasted scents
Taste
Wonderfully balanced blend of bitterness and bite. Roasted malt flavoring, lingers
Overall
One of my favorite IPAs that even rivals the 60 min IPA for my affection. There’s a strong hop/malt/bitter presence but not overly so, its strong yet drinkable. I’ve never had it in a bottle, only on tap many…many times.
