Barrier Belgian Dubbel Down - 6.9% ABV
C: Dark chocolate brown color. Hazy. Appear brown in candle light.
S: Sweet. Caramel. Fruity scent.
T: Strong banana tones. Light hops and a light malty flavor. Light sweet/hoppy aftertaste.
M: Refreshing. Light watery texture and body.
D: Very easy to drink. Good flavor, texture and complexity of the combination of the flavors make this beer very enjoyable.

Had a pint at Jimmy's 43. While it was a tasty beer, the mouthfeel and character we're in line with the classic Belgians. The body is too thick, the carbonation is too low, and the yeast character seems underdeveloped.
That sounds kind of terrible, but free of any style this is a pretty decent beer. It comes off like a fruity brown ale with extra spice. The dark, bread crust barley stands up behind the initial fruit and also brings a little caramel.

a- pours a rich brown with some golden highlights in the light. about 2 fingers of nice khaki head.
s- so refreshing, tons of clove and banana, belgian yeast worked hard here. some nice spice, pepper notes too. little boozy twinge.
t- matches the nose quite well. up front is overripe fruit, clove, banana, honey, and a little bitterness on the finish. very well executed. flavors are complex yet none too overpowering.
m- pretty well carbonated, even from the growler. mouthfeel is a bit nicer than other dubbels, pretty substantial body.
d- very drinkable, glad it comes by the growler

A: The beer is relatively clear amber in color and poured with a thin white head. No carbonation is visible in the form of rising bubbles.
S: There are light aromas of spices and hints of fruits in the nose.
T: Like the smell, the taste is dominated by spices and has hints of dark fruits and sweetness. There is a light amount of bitterness in the finish, which is different from most dubbels.
M: It feels medium-bodied and very smooth on the palate with a low amount of carbonation.
O: The overall taste lacks complexity but the spices and bitterness make this beer unique compared to others in the style. The alcohol is well masked from the smell and taste.

This dubbel is dominated by earthy tones of toasted chestnut and strong malt finish. It is an ideal harvest beer for the 1st week of November. The color was a rich amber/brown tone and the 1/2" head was thin but held up throughout. No lacing. This is hearty and would go well with stew or chili.
