Growler filled at Eastern District in Brooklyn.

Pours typical dark brown, murky, medium tan head, stays at about the 1/2 inch height for a good while, very slowly dissolves and departs to a thicker frothy film, more then ample collar, light and plentiful fine bits and strands of lace.

Light wiff of dry chocolate.

Pleasant Brown ale, chocolate notes are the first and a long lasting impression. Roasty and flavorful, moderate sweetness. Medium carbonation, smooth and easy drinking.

Overall, very nicely done. Well worth give this one a try. (554 characters)

On draft at Tap and Barrel, Hauppague, NY.

Poured a deep amber hue with a two finger frothy white head. There was good retention and lacing.

The smell featured a soft cocoa cut by a light herbal hop.

The taste consisted of a lightly sweet caramel malt, some light cocoa

The mouthfeel was typical of the style.

Overall a tasty easy drinking brown ale. (360 characters)

Counter-pressure filled growler.

A: Dark brown and cloudy with a substantial head and good lacing.

S: Mostly chocolate, some earthy, spicy hops. The nose isn't particularly strong.

T: Sweet malt with chocolate and vanilla. Some earthy, resinous hops give balance from the background and come through to clean up the finish (wiping away the sweetness).

M: Creamy with moderate carbonation. Quite nice.

O: On the second day (I drank just 2 pints the first day), I got much more nuttiness and less chocolate in both the smell and the taste. Although I liked this beer quite a bit, it wasn't as bold or robust as I had hoped for and expect from Barrier. (654 characters)
