22oz. to little Barrier snifter, awww...

Appearance - Clear, golden, and bubbly. Perfect 1 finger white head. Fantastic lacing throughout the drinking experience.

Smell - I've never had a beer brewed with zythos hops before, or at least I didn't know it. Wonderful. It smelled like pine, mangos, and strawberries were mixed together with honey, really good.

Taste - Akin to the nose with a wonderful, sweet, malty backbone. Sugary hops up front, with some fruit like flavors in the middle, and a solid bitterness to bring the whole beer in check.

Mouthfeel - Well carbonated and easy drinking. If I wasn't told that it was 10%, there is no way I ever would have guessed that high.

Overall - Hands down my favorite beer from Barrier and I have had every beer they've brewed. These guys are really starting to do some amazing things, glad to see they are up and running, and knocking it out of the park with this brew.

The bottle top is dipped in wax.

A. A fairly dark caramel color that is completely opaque and thick, syrupy. Some tan head with a bit of lacing.

S. Lemony hop scent to it.

T/M. It is quite sweet. There's a good banana taste with a grassy undertone. There's a butterscotch. It is full-bodied. It is very smooth, feels heavy. Almost like a hoppy stout.

O. This would be perfect for aging. It has an intense taste, flavorful. I really like it. It's heavy but sweat and smooth.

Amber in body with almost no head to speak of. Aroma of citrus syrup, cotton candy, strawberry fields, pineapple tilted on its side. Tastes of citrus Cadillacs, New Zealand grass, pineapple in vodka, bitter wielding a boozy sword towards the finish line. Slick, heavy body with mild carbonation. This has headache city written all over a 22 oz. but very tasty nonetheless. Get your masquerade on.

Bomber bottle (February 2013)

Pours clouded darker dull looking amber. Minor khaki head and next to no lace.

Nose is loaded with sweet malt, and ample hops. Also some alcohol shines through.

Big and bold, decent balance between a load of malt and ample hop dryness. Problem I'm having is that is on the boozy side. With alcohol fueled lime flashes from midway all through the finish.

Love the style but not in love with this take on it....

Appearance: Pours headless, with a hazy copper color; a few bubbles cling to the side of the glass but there is no lacing to speak of

Smell: Caramel and pine resins; somewhat boozy

Taste: Opens with a lot of sugary malt, building a caramel backbone; the resinous hops dominate in the middle, bringing aggressive bitterness; in the aftertaste, the malts return to the forefront and while there is residual bitterness, it is the sweet malts that linger in the finish

Mouthfeel: Thick and syrupy; very little carbonation

Overall: A really disappointing take on the style and the brewery should be ashamed by the high ticket price they are charging for this
