Pours crimson red with a khaki-beige head. Deep dark fruitiness with notes of intense pine sap, wood, citrus and slight toffee notes.

A dirty brown/burgundy pour with little clarity and a soft, white, and nicely retaining head. The nose is very malty with a sort of toasted quality to it but not very floral to me. Big time malty taste on the initial sip with a sort of robust feel to it. The robust/malty taste continues to a slightly bitter hop finish. Very earthy and herbal note qualities come on the more it warms. I really get a sort of herbal tea quality. The mouth feel is moderate, dirty, and yet somewhat smooth.

Overall- decent, drinkable, and different but nothing great. The malts and dirty feel really dominate and I don't really get much hops at all. I'm in the 3.5 range at best.

Poured from a can dated 3/27/18 into an imperial pint glass
A - A hazy copper colored backdrop allows active carbonation some cover. The pillowed white cap is proof. Lacing is seductive.
S - Earthy rye, some evergreen, hints of mossy herbal elements.
T - Some spicy grains, match well with resiny piney hops,
M - Smooth water profile, semi sweet start, bittering hops are perfectly pitched. finish goes back to semi sweet
O - A beautiful red ale, with just enough prickly feel and bitterness to keep you wanting more.

Pours a reddish brown with creamy head and some floaties.

Smell is malty with notes of rye, piney resin, some citrus and a bit of honey.

Taste starts a bit sweet and malty, then adds some pepppery rye, and ends with pine, a pretty solid bitterness and some warming booze.

Mouthfeel is medium, soft and well carbonated.

Overall, sort of a red ale/IPA hybrid. Very tasty, reminds me of Hop Head Red by Green Flash.

Served in a snifter glass from the bottle.

Appearance: Deep dark amber coming off a bit slightly hazy with medium to heavy bubbles on the body. Orange tinted white head rising just about two finger lengths, doesn't drop till two or three sips.

Smell: Floral scent consisting of pine trees and citrus skin.

Taste: Malty brew, bitter like straight hops. Consists of deep sour citrus and hard pineyness.

Mouth: Has a chewy feels reminds me of rye bread and lemon skin. I know I can't be alone but has a herbal finish which reminds me a bit of rosemary.

Overall: Pretty descent brew, red ale meet and imperial IPA and you get this. Worth grabbing if you see it.

Deep Amber in body with off white head. Aroma of dirt, tangerine, and sugar. Tastes of malty sweetness, citrus, bread, sweet vermouth, Manhattan-like. Chewy and medium carbonation.

Not familiar with the Brewery from a region of Long Island not known for great beer. So, not expecting much. Surprise!
L - Color is bourbon with a nice sticky eggwhite head slowly replaced by a continuing fine carbonation.
S - Like a mix of a lovely red and a fine American IPA. Malt and fruit and pine and more - nothing jumps out, but lots going on.
T - First notice is thick and juicy mouth feel. Then, pretty much perfect balance of bready malt counterpoint of mild hop bitter and lots of tropical fruit and lots more.
O - Yes, surprise. I will be sampling other Barrier brews soon. And heading back to my bev center for more of this bottle which is in limited supply. Barrier is now on my search list.
