Just a tip for anyone traveling through the Columbia area. This is right off of HWY63, and would be a great stop for anyone looking to pick up some brews.

As previously mentioned in previous reviews, this HYVEE has a HUGE selection of single bottles, individually priced. You don't have to make a full six-pack, just buy at least three. I said huge because I am comparing it to other places I have seen around the area with a single 12 ounce selection. This one has by far more then any other place I have seen.

Picked up a nice selection of ODells, Bell's, and left hand brewery, but anyone looking for Schlafly can get it here also. Also have a very wide variety of 6 packs, and cases, though there wasn't very many imports in that form, just in the singles.

So if you are in the Columbia area, stop by here, you may not find any hidden gems, but you will find a great selection of beers that you may have not tried yet.

This Hyvee is off of old 63 and so it would be a quick stop for anyone traveling off of I-70 and through Columbia. It has a pretty solid selection of beer and sometimes has stuff that the other Hyvee's do not. As with all of the Hyvees, the wine/liquor/beer is in it's own section of the store, so you don't have to wonder through the grocery part if you're just stopping in for beers. A majority of the beer at this particular Hyvee is in coolers but one option at this Hyvee (vs. the others) is that they have a very large section of individual 12oz bottles that you can mix and match (the other two Hyvees have 1/4 of beers that this one does for mix/matching). Again, they have decent selection of Missouri distribution (Bells, Founders, Firestone Walker, Stone, BLVD, Schlafly, Odell's, New Belgium) but not much in terms of Belgian or other European selections. The employees are very friendly and are more than willing to look up or even call if you they get a particular beer in stock.

As the previous reviewer mentioned, Columbia has had two new HyVees open in the past year and each one had a better Wine & Spirits section than the previous. The newest one (in a shopping complex with Lowe's, Wal-Mart & a Sam's Club) has the best beer selection of the three. It has more space allotted for beer and hence has more variety and more styles from each brewery. One unique twist from the other 2 HyVees is its mix a six section. The other two require a full six-pack and have a set price. At this one you can just buy 3 single brews since each brew has its own price. The staff has frequently asked for suggestions and taken my requests. The prices here tend to be the same or even lower than other places in town. Problem for me is that it is on the wrong end of town. However, I think it is putting pressure on the original HyVee to improve its beer section. Go beer advocacy!

HyVee grocery stores have rapidly appeared in Columbia, and each time a new one is built, the Wine & Spirits branch gets a little better. This is the newest one built, and I have to say, I was quite surprised with what I saw.

The beers they have in the store range from the usual BMC, Rogue, Unibroue, Schlafly, etc. selections, but they also carry a fair number of craft brews in a addition. Finding something there that's rare is highly unlikely, but considering this store is in central Missouri, they've done a great job gathering both local and nationwide brews.

Most impressive, though, is the variety of ways you can purchase the beers. The single-bottle selection is fantastic, and they're all individually priced. So, you don't have a single mix-a-six selection, but rather can buy as many bottles as you like (minimum 3) until you have all of the bottles you desire. This includes all brands of the aforementioned breweries. I really like this style of selling much better than the 750mL, six-pack, or create-your-own that most other stores follow. They also have usual six packs and 750mL, but the alternative is excellent.

Service was always friendly, and every time I've gone, they've asked me if I needed any help. They're always happy to assist, and surprisingly, they never get too busy, so odds are you'll get help.

Really, this is a pleasant experience. In a city where liquor stores are relatively limited, this was a refreshing find. From here on out, it's my go-to store in Columbia.
