Poured into a 16 oz snifter, bottled on Valentine's day 14. Pours midnight black, with a dark tan head, that leaves behind loads of stick lace.

Smell is dark chocolate, roasted coffee, smoke, tobacco, leather, and vanilla bean.

Taste is very roasty with everything from the nose aggressive, from start to finish with dark chocolate being most predominant, with a smokey vanilla bean finish that sticks to the tongue like a milk dud.

Body is big, plenty of life, dry, and a easy drinking sipper if that makes any sense.

This is a very nice stout, unforgettable in my opinion. Just so big and so much going on, really a special stout.

look: 4 | smell: 4 | taste: 4.25 | feel: 4.25 | overall: 4.25

Appearance- The brew is extremely dark. Minimal head, but it makes up for quantity with its frothy consistency and mahogany coloration. Foam clings to the glass long after taking a sip. The beer itself looks darker than night, but does not have the expected thickness to match and only appears to be a medium bodied IRS.

Smell- Fresh coffee and soy sauce

Taste- Massive espresso and cocoa flavors mingled with smoke. Sweetness and spicy booze finish increases as it warms.

Mouthfeel- Silky mouthfeel, creamy and slightly chewy . Despite this, it has low carbonation and provides a peppery sensation mostly due to the slight booziness.

Overall- A solid RIS. Not my favorite, but very good. It would warrant another purchase sometime (at $11 per 22oz bomber) but I would still rank it below Old Rasputin, Founders Imperial Stout, Stone IRS, Great Divide Yeti, and Great Lakes Blackout (all readily available in my area for cheaper prices). I would rank this on par with the Brooklyn BCS, and there is some overlap in flavors between the two with the dominant chocolate and spicy booziness.
