A: Poured into a snifter to a black beer topped by a dense and slightly rocky finger of light tan head which fades slowly to a collar around the edge of the glass with minimal lacing.
S: Smells of intense dark chocolate and oak with a hint of smoke. Slight coffee as well with a little hint of funky rum
T: Taste is chocolate, oak and rum up front with some caramel and smoke, slight roasted malts, hints of oxidation, more funky rum. On the finish this beer is more chocolate, a little heat, rum, oak, and creamy vanilla with a little more coffee and smoke.
M: This beer has a full and velvety feel on the mouth but it isn't super heavy. Carbonation is about where it should be for the style while the beer has a drying finish.
O: Overall this is a pretty solid beer. It has some nice flavors and complexity which make it an interesting drink. The blend of beers is also well executed as each one brings a little bit to the taste. The oxidation notes cleared up after the first couple sips and this one tastes pretty solid. A little boozy and a little hot but overall a good beer.

2014 vintage
22oz bottle poured into a tulip
A- pours black in color with a small creamy dark khaki head that has great retention after the pour
S- big smoky note on the nose; chipotle, bbq, wood smoke. Undertones of bourbon & rum barrel, dark fruits & chocolate
T- plenty of barrel up front, equal parts bourbon and rum. Smoky Chipotle notes at the mid-palate, the finish gives more smoke and hints of dark fruit and caramel
M-medium body with low carbonation leads to a creamy mouthfeel that continues into the finish
O- lots of smoke throughout, has aged well

A - Pours a midnight black with a thin tan head. Nice amount of light soapy lacing.
S - Aroma is bourbon, vanilla and dark chocolate.
T - The taste is dark chocolate, coffee, ripe dark fruits and molasses. Finishes with some nice bourbon barrel notes and a touch of char.
M - Heavy body with medium carbonation. Syrupy mouthfeel with a sticky dry finish.
O - This has held up extremely well for being cellared for two years. The flavors are big and rich. Well done Clown Shoes.

Wow. Great beer. Pours jet black with very little head. Nose is all bourbon. Taste begins with Bourbon and finishes with rum on the finish. It is too bad this is not being brewed anymore.

Look: Pitch black perfection with barely any head detected on my extremely gentle slow pour with my typical inadequate low levels of lighting situation.
Smell: Mostly coffee with subdued notes of chocolate. As this beverage has warmed I am able to smell more of an alcohol smell to it as opposed to a sweeter and softer smell of coffee.
Taste: Coffee loudly speaks it's presence upon the first time it touches my taste buds all the way to swallowing it. That statement holds it's truth when first drank after being poured and as the beer has warmed over the course of time.
Feeling: Surprisingly soft for a cool cellar-ed drink with a high alcohol percent. Meanwhile, it's important to mention that after maybe 10 minutes of being out in room temperature with my dinner the alcohol has started to be noticeable in an enjoyable fashion.
Overall: I am very thankful that I was privileged enough to drink this awesome beer that was brewed only once thanks to Beer Advocate's beer trading system!

Pours a pitch black color with a thin, brown, foamy head. Head retention is mild. Lacing is good. Big strong chocolate flavor with roasted malts and hints of java. Taste is very smooth. Big, big chocolate, roasted malts and mild coffee. Very good and smooth. Hides alcohol very well. Heavy bodied with mild carbonation.
