Ahhh, what better smell is there than chupacabras, defeated, burning in a field of rye? Ummm, perhaps the complex aromatics of Crasher in the Rye? Texas oak smoked malt, from Blacklards Malt Company, as well as a touch of rye malt, complement the roasted bittersweet care of the brew. Aged 100% in Rye and Bourbon barrels.

outstanding complex mix of smoke, malt, barrel, rye whiskey. Its not of epic proportion like Smoking Wood, but this beer deserves praise.

Of all the CS beers: VERY ANGRY, and this one seem top of the heep. I wish Lucahdor en Fuego had more barrel presence, because its base: Chocolate Sombrero is a great beeer

flippin gosh-darn beautiful, she is. no "phonies" plaguing this jazz, that's for sure.
rye and chocolate. killer combo that I managed to not see until this brew popped on my radar and proceeded to blow my mind. it's black bodied, packed with chocolate and tinges of dark stone fruit and coffee bean stuffed in a leather bound book dipped in red wine tannins peppered with the spice of rye and roasted sweet dark sugar-burnt-caramel malt.

it's a killer stout with a complicated kick. that's this brews thing. and it's ****ing good at it.

2017 Vintage
A: Poured into a snifter to a black beer topped by a dense finger of tan head which fades slowly to a collar around the edge of the glass with minimal lacing
S: Smells of intense chocolate with a hint of coffee, a little barrel with some vanilla and caramel along with some slight rye spice
T: Taste is chocolate, coffee, and some roasted malts along with some smoke and charred wood. Hints of burnt sugar with a touch of vanilla, caramel and oak. Hints of spicy rye coming in at times as well. On the swallow there's more chocolate and coffee with some more oak, smoke, char, roasted malts, and slight lingering rye spice.
M: This beer has a silky smooth and full body. Carbonation is soft but adequate for the style while the beer has a drying finish which is expected for the style and the ABV.
O: Overall this really nice. The beer has some great complexity and everything plays really well together. The silky smooth mouthfeel on this stout is also perfection. Very well executed and well worth a try if you can find it.

Pours seal brown with a meager cap of khaki foam that disperses almost instantly. Rich, sweet aroma smells of dates, plums, toffee, peat, and rye.

The taste follows the nose pretty closely, featuring molasses, dates, toffee, prunes, rye, and earthy hops. The whisky barrel is well represented but not cloying. Some soy sauce notes are present, possibly due to sitting on the store shelf for nearly three years... Warming reveals roasted malt and burnt toast. Medium-heavy body and mild carbonation make for a smooth, sturdy mouthfeel.

What can I say? This is another stellar stout from Clown Shoes. Complex, robust, and sophisticated, one might even argue it's their best.

A dark brown brew with a dark tan lacing.

Aroma is heavy with quite distinct notes of molasses, black cherry, fusel alcohol and plum.

Sweet and hot up front with the ripened dark fruits succumbing to the barrel aging and booze after a short bit before a wave of caramel and black licorice introduce themselves. Some grain and pine noticed as it warms, but remains on the sweet side overall.

Medium in body and no doubt a sipper that goes to work fast.

Another quality brew from CS that doesn't hit the pocket book too hard. And that's fucking rad because overpriced beer is becoming so totally sad.

pours a dark opaque mahogany with a thick medium head. nose; baker’s chocolate, vanilla, oak, sweet tobacco, dates, & brown sugar. taste; roasted dark malt, spicy rye, cocoa/dark chocolate, whiskey, oak, light char, lactose, vanilla, dates, & mellow earthy hops. heavy carbonation, and the milk definitely adds to a dense velvety mouthfeel. another decadent clown shoes sipper with satisfying complexity.
