When easy encounters became close calls, The Artist new better than to wait for the next close call to be his final hour. He needed an ace in the hole, a fail safe option tokeep danger at arms length. What he got was A Fistful of Unidragon.

This Russian Imperial Stout slightly alters Blaecorn Unidragon with Mesquite-smoked malts, adding to the rich, complex flavors that our classic Russian Imperial Stout traditionally encompasses. Aged in Bourbon barrels, A Fistful of Unidragon blends in a touch of Bourbon sweetness to layer over the array of flavors on display in this full-bodied stout.

Poured from a can at fridge temp. Pours motor oil black with a very thin layer of head. The nose is dark chocolate, molasses, smoked wood, black licorice, and slight coffee grounds. The taste is fantastic. Sweet bourbon, chocolate, a touch of maple, vanilla, dark berries, a some roasted malts. Lovely taste with a solid mouthfeel. Great stout.

Look: It pours very dark brown with a brown head. It has low head retention.

Smell: There are some chocolate aromas with light smoke and bourbon. There are light dark fruit background notes.

Taste: There are some chocolate and roast elements with smoke. Bourbon notes are in support with a charcoal like element in the background.

Feel: It has a full body with strong alcohol warming.

Overall, a unique beer unlike others due to the mesquite smoked malt.

Great potential bur misses the mark. Looks great and smells great. Im a smokes beer fanatic so anytime I read smokey on a beer label I'm in. Almost always its extremely subtle at best. This beer actually could pass for a smoked beer and no doubt was brewed with smoked malts. Huge bonus points for delivering on this smell and taste. Unfortunately the taste has a very metallic note I cant get over. Its got other high points of ashyness and chalkiness but man I cant not just taste this metal everytime intake a sip.

The feel is wicked dry. Im pretty sure there are cotton balls in this beer. But at the same time it continues to be astringent and somewhat of a volatile spirit. There are stark parallels with this beer and moonshine. Its HOT and ethanol laden, feels rushed/not like a finished product, and just super woodsy if that makes any sense. It tastes like you told a hillbilly about barrel aged beer and he was l ike "yeah i can do that".

Ebony with a 1/2" tan head, which fades to a wisp. Moderate lacing.

Aroma of coffee, chocolate, caramel, vanilla. Sweet

Tastes of espresso, vanilla, cocoa, caramel, blackstrap molasses, oak, bourbon. Astringent.

Thick and rich, light carbonation. Oily finish.

Outstanding Russian Imperial Stout.

Very fresh can only about a month old.
Poured a beautiful dark brown almost black. Perfect head. Not too little, not too much. No noticeable aromas. Tastes just like you would want/expect from a good RIS. Is aged in bourbon barrels, but I did not pick that up at all.
Doesn't stand out as exceptional, but certainly a great beer. Expensive, and that is the biggest negative. Might improve with some aging.

22oz bottle poured into a tulip
Believed to be around 5 years old

A- pours deep black in color with a one-finger foamy khaki head that reduces to a ring

S- dark chocolate aromas mix with campfire ash, mesquite smoke, charred malt, anise and bourbon oak, with undertones of caramel, licorice jelly beans and vanilla

T- rich chocolate and caramel sweetness up front is followed by some charred notes along with black licorice. Mid-palate brings out the oaky barrel, adding barrel juice and some vanilla. The finish gives a hint of smoked mesquite, along with more chocolate and anise, with the barrel lingering long after, adding a big bourbon punch on the linger

M- medium body with moderate carbonation leads to a slightly foamy mouthfeel that continues to finish warming with just a hint of carbonation

O- plenty of barrel character to compliment the base beer, which adds a nice undertones of smoke

Black of the deepest abyss appearance with a brown cap. Smells like a beast in a glass: huge smoke, mesquite, leather, char, earth, rugged tobacco and booze, wood is rustic, and malts are robust. A roasty RIS fever dream. Taste sees the dream continue, exactly as it smells, but there is a kiss of metal on the finish on some sips, not always. Isn't enough to destroy the beer, but not as pure and rewarding as the nose. Feel is huge, rugged, roasted, smoky, earthy and heavy. A sipper for when you want to smell, taste and feel that liquid courage!

16oz can stamped 10/23/19 (about a year old) poured into a Spiegelau stout glass at fridge temp 12.5% ABV. The beer pours impenetrable black with dense medium brown colored head. The head recedes to a cap and leaves a complete web of lacing. The aroma is mild with bittersweet chocolate. The taste is more bittersweet chocolate, charred roasted malt, faint oak and a hint of bourbon. Medium bitterness. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with just less than medium carbonation and a dry finish. Overall, very good, but disappointing at it's price point.

Black in color, small tan head, wisps of lace.
Aroma of chocolate and coffee.
Dark chocolate taste, espresso. Late hit of bourbon.
A nice beer, without the marshmallow, oreos, etc that get put into stouts now.
